Stats

Battle

The Ironclad appears alone, but is one of the strongest enemies of the game. Its attacks can be devastating, inflicting several thousand points of damage to single targets, and its Takedown attack (which can be also used as a counterattack) will inflict massive damage. Its Rocket Punch can halve a character's current HP and inflict Confuse, and Hurricane will reduce a single target's HP to single digits.

When Ironclad's HP drops below 15,000 it will start counterattacking all damage with a normal attack and Takedown. Once its HP is under 10,000, it will also use Mighty Guard, which can be removed with Dispel.

The Ironclad is the only enemy from which the Earthbreaker, the strongest axe, can be rarely stolen. As Ironclad can cast Mighty Guard on itself, the player can learn this Blue Magic by casting Reflect on it.

Dark Arts spell Curse can be learned if a Necromancer in the party slays the enemy.

Strategy

It is imperative to use Protect and heal a lot, attacking with the special moves of powerful jobs, like the Gladiator.
