The Ironclad (アイアンクラッド, Aiankuraddo? or (アイアン・クラッド, Aian Kuraddo?), also known as BGH251F2 or Iron Clad, is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy VIII. It is typically a stronger variant of the Iron Giant.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy V[]
The Ironclad appears as an enemy exclusive to the Advance and Matrix Software releases, encountered within the Sealed Temple bonus dungeon. It always appears alone, but is one of the deadliest enemies in the game. The Earthbreaker can only be acquired as a rare steal from the Ironclad.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth[]
The Ironclad appears as an enemy encountered in the Temple of the Ancients.
Final Fantasy VIII[]
The BGH251F2, codename Iron Clad, appears as a boss first encountered in the Missile Base by Selphie Tilmitt's party. After defeating the warmachine, Selphie and her party shelter inside of it to protect themselves from the base's self-destruct mechanism. They become trapped inside the damaged machine, and are still inside when it is set loose in Fishermans Horizon where it is fought again by Squall Leonhart's party, freeing Selphie's party when it is finally destroyed. Unlike later appearances, the Iron Clad is a tank rather than an Iron Giant.
Final Fantasy X[]
The Ironclad appears as a Species Conquest boss encountered in the Monster Arena, unlocked after capturing 10 Iron Giants and 10 of each Gemini. It will counter any damage taken with Reppageki, while its Bushinzan deals HP and MP damage to the entire party. It will always target the party member with the highest HP with its powerful Shinryudan.
Pictlogica Final Fantasy[]
The Ironclad from Final Fantasy V appears as an enemy, while the BGH251F2 from VIII appears as a boss, though only in its damaged second form.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]
Both forms of the BGH251F2 from Final Fantasy VIII appear as bosses.
