Invisible is a status in Final Fantasy VI. A character with the invisible status will evade all physical attacks, even those that are unblockable, but they will never evade magic spells. Vanished characters can be inflicted with any status ailment, even if they are immune to it, provided the status is caused by a magic attack. This means the status negates status protection to death, leading to the infamous Vanish/Doom exploit. The bug was partially fixed in the game's Advance port.
This status also prevents the user from activating his/her Desperation Attack. The status persists outside of battle. When a party member has invisible, they appear as just an outline in battle, and have a question mark with a green hat in the menu. Invisible can be removed with anything the game considers magic. The exception to this is the enemy ability Northern Cross, which does not remove the invisible status when it fails to inflict frozen. Additionally, the Magic Evasion stat is reduced to zero, and spells such as Reflect and Shell lose their effects, even if given by equipment.

The "Vanish-Doom bug" is the most famous bug associated with invisibility, leading to an easy exploit for the player to defeat almost any foe with death magic as long as they cast Vanish on the foe first. The bug has been fixed in the latest versions of Final Fantasy VI, such as Pixel Remaster.
Locke after losing the invisible status.
Invisible status interferes with the magitek armor graphic. If invisible status is given to a character who is wearing the magitek armor, the character's legs and feet appear outside the armor. This bug will persist when invisibility is lost, but this only lasts so long as the person has invisible status (or if removed, for the remainder of the current battle). There is a bugfix patch that players can use to fix it on the SNES version.
