Inferno, previously known as Scorch, is first used by Rubicante (and White Dragon as a counter to Fire-elemental magic), and later by Lunar Ifrit, Crystal Dragon, and Brachioraidos. It inflicts either moderate Fire-elemental damage to the party or major Fire-elemental damage to one party member, usually resulting in a KO.
Inferno is also usable as an augment in the 3D versions allowing anyone to learn the skill.
Rubicante uses Inferno as his trademark attack; White Dragons also use it as a counter to Fire-elemental magic. It is also a Band ability learned in a cutscene battle with Rubicante before the player fights Ifrit. Inferno is usable by combining Rydia and Edge's abilities.
Rubicante's card depicting his Theatrhythm art can use Scorch. For one Fire CP, the discard of another Rubicante card and Dulling Rubicante, Scorch deals 5000 damage to all non-Fire Forwards.
Non-Final Fantasy appearances
Inferno is Rubicante and Hellfire Rubicante 's ability. When attacked, deals 3 damage to all enemy units and restores 2 HP to this unit.
Scorch refers to surface discoloration caused by combustion or heat.
