Inferno is a pet ability from Final Fantasy XIV used by the Summoner's Ifrit-Egi when commanded by Enkindle, dealing heavy area of effect damage and additional damage over time.

Damage over time (DoT) effects deal damage every server tick, or 3 seconds, independent of the effect's duration. This means that the effect may deal damage anywhere between 0 and 3 seconds after it is applied, and in 3 second intervals afterwards.

Use

Inferno is Ifrit-Egi's Enkindle action, dealing heavy area of effect (AoE) and additional damage over time. As Inferno's AoE is a cone rather than a circle, it has only a quarter the AoE of Garuda-Egi's Aerial Blast and Titan-Egi's Earthen Fury, and thus has a harder time hitting as many enemies, and its potency isn't quite as high as Earthen Fury. Despite these drawbacks, Inferno is the best Enkindle to use in single-target encounters where its small AoE isn't a concern, as its total potency is greater than Aerial Blast while Earthen Fury requires the low-damage Titan-Egi to stay on the field for its duration, and Ifrit-Egi has greater single-target DPS in general.

A Realm Reborn	Added with 200 base potency and only hit a single target. Level 24 trait Enhanced Pet Actions gave a Inferno a 20% of granting Spell Speed Up whenever it dealt critical damage, increasing spell speed by 20% for 8 seconds.
Stormblood	Enhanced Pet Actions removed. Level 62 trait Ruin Mastery added, which gave Inferno a 15% chance to grant Further Ruin, upgrading Ruin and Ruin III to Ruin IV. Summon III no longer available in PvP, and by extension Ifrit-Egi and Inferno.
Patch 4.1	Ruin Mastery effect changed, no longer interacts with Inferno.; replaced with Enhanced Ruin II, which now upgraded Ruin II to Ruin IV, rather than Ruin and Ruin III.
Shadowbringers	Now has a 5-yalm cone area of effect. Enhanced Ruin II effect changed, no longer interacts with Inferno.
Patch 5.1	Base potency increased to 300.
