Indigo Pendant is an accessory in Final Fantasy XII that improves the wearer's chance of striking with magicks. It does not affect special effects from weapons. Wearing Indigo Pendant makes the character's magicks always hit under normal circumstances, including status spells always inflicting their status unless the target is immune; even Warp always succeeds with Indigo Pendant. In the Zodiac versions, the pendant also gives +7 to Speed. Against targets under Shell, the infliction chance is still halved. Wearing the Indigo Pendant is the same effect as the enemy's Ignore Vitality passive ability.
Obtain[]
Original[]
In the original PlayStation 2 versions, the Indigo Pendant can be bought for 5000 gil from the Skyferry route Bhujerba–Balfonheim after the sky fortress Bahamut has appeared. It very rarely drops from Suriander and is the rare steal from the Mandragora Prince in Feywood. It is also a reward in the Hunt Club sidequest on the Phon Coast, by giving 15 Rare Game trophies to Stok, which makes Indigo Pendant purchasable from the Shifty-Eyed Merchant for 4500 gil.
Zodiac[]
In the updated Zodiac versions, the Indigo Pendant is not available from shops, but sells for 200 gil. It is found in a treasure in the Lhusu Mines' Site 9 (always appears) and Subterra's Penumbra - North (5% chance to appear, but is always the Indigo Pendant). It is still a very rare drop from Suriander (Level 38–39 only), and a rare steal from the Mandragora Prince in Feywood. It is also the uncommon steal from Cúchulainn (10%) in Trial Mode Stage 41.
It is still a reward through the Hunt Club sidequest on the Phon Coast, now by giving Stok 25 Rare Game trophies, and Atak and Blok one each. Indigo Pendant is then purchasable for 60,000 gil from the Shifty-Eyed Merchant.
Use[]
Indigo Pendant ensures that the player's magicks hit, making it especially useful to ensure that statuses stick, like when level grinding against the Abysteels in the Henne Mines by casting Sleepga or Disable on them with the Indigo Pendant, and then following with Curaja. It also makes Warp and Death to always succeed, useful against some of the diver-type enemies that use kamikaze attacks. It also makes Berserk, Decoy, Gravity, and Reverse always hit. Indigo Pendant can be used an alternative to Nihopalaoa to inflict enemies with statuses, but with the pendant, the player can still use items on themselves without adverse effect.
Indigo Pendant a useful accessory to have, and it is worth trying to find one at the earliest. In the original, the player can simply buy one from a Skyferry route, but in the Zodiac versions, the player can go out of their way to the tougher parts of Lhusu Mines to find one. In all versions, the player can try to grind one from Surianders as well.
The accessory's usefulness decreases as the party gains levels, as the more the caster's level surpasses the target's, the higher the magicks' chance to stick is. At LV99 most common enemies will always get the status effects when the player casts magick on them. Conversely, it is useful when fighting enemies of similar or greater level. If the player is doing New Game-, locking all characters at their starting levels, then Indigo Pendant will remain useful until the end of the game.
