Independent Materia.

Single slot. Independent Materia (独立マテリア, Dokuritsu Materia?) is a subset of Materia in Final Fantasy VII. They allow the use of support abilities without the need of pairing the Materia with other Materia which provide command abilities, differentiating them from Support Materia.

Among the support abilities provided by Independent Materia are the abilities to cover allies, counterattack, and to hit at full damage from the back row. In addition to adding support abilities, Independent Materia can also provide stat boosts. With the exception of Enemy Lure, no stat penalties can occur by equipping Independent Materia.
