Imperial Swordsman is an Imperial Army/Imperial-type enemy in Final Fantasy XII. They are fought in Garamsythe Waterway as an event boss and later are found in every Archadian structure, but compared to other Imperial soldiers, they are not that tough. There are fourteen different versions of them, and some accompany certain bosses. They are among the first enemies fought in the game, as they appear during the prologue when the player is in control of Reks.

Two are fought in the Zodiac versions' Trial Mode Stage 7 alongside two Judges and an Imperial Magus.

Note: All "Imperial" soldiers share one bestiary entry.

Page 1: Imperial SoldierEdit

Being the rank and file of the Archadian Imperial Army. The greater part of the Imperial army is comprised of swordsmen. In addition are hoplites in heavy armor for charging enemy fortifications, mages for ranged support, and others still for various, more specialized roles.

Page 2: MastiffEdit

Dogs specially trained for battle. Their ability to follow commands and unswerving loyalty make them a vital part of the Imperial war machine. Training takes place at the hands of skilled "beast tamers", with a mastiff usually requiring two to three years before it is ready to see combat.

Nalbina FortressEdit

Imperial Swordsmen appear as tutorial enemies in the prologue when the player is in control of Reks. Fighting them is only useful for practice.

Garamsythe WaterwayEdit

Four Imperial Swordsmen are fought as an event boss when Amalia joins. One of them has Protect, but they are not otherwise notable.

Nalbina DungeonsEdit

Imperial Swordsmen patrol the area preceding the drop to Barheim Passage. The player can fight them as regular encounters.

Dreadnought LeviathanEdit

Imperial Swordsmen appear both as regular enemies and as accompaniment to certain bosses: namely the Judges event boss and Judge Ghis.

Light Cruiser ShivaEdit

Three Imperial Swordsmen accompany Vossler. They randomly have buffs, but act more as a nuisance and distraction than a threat.

Draklor LaboratoryEdit

Imperial Swordsmen patrol the hallways in floors 66, 67 and 68. The player can fight them as random encounters.

Sky Fortress BahamutEdit

Imperial Swordsmen appear as regular enemies. They drop healing items in preparation for the final battle, as once the player boards Bahamut, they cannot leave.
