The player may intentionally let the enemy reach the top of during the Condor War minigame in "Struggle for the Huge Materia" so they can fight this easy boss and get the armor piece. There are no extra prizes for winning the minigame as "intended".

Imperial Guard is a relatively strong armor, providing good Defense and Magic Defense, as well as several linked Materia slots, allowing for good customization of the character wearing the armor. While it provides strong defenses, the Adaman Bangle, Warrior Bangle, and Ziedrich provide greater Defense, while the Wizard Bracelet, Aegis Armlet, and Fourth Bracelet offer greater Magic Defense. Mystile offers slightly less Magic Defense and far less Defense, it does offer the highest Def% and MDef% in the game, while the Ziedrich outclasses Imperial Guard all-around.
