Changes one opponent to a frog
Description
Impaler is a battle item in Final Fantasy VII that casts Toad on one enemy, turning them into a frog. When used on a character who is in Frog status, it removes the transformation, but the player could simply use the Maiden's Kiss instead.
The Mystery Ninja also uses Impaler as an enemy ability against the player.

Use[]
Impaler has moderate usage as it can inflict the Frog status to one enemy before the player may have access to the Toad spell. However, if the player has obtained the Frog Song Enemy Skill, there is no need for the Impaler at all. In challenge runs and in the Battle Square, the Impaler may have use in crippling most foes if the player is unable to defeat enemies fast enough.
Etymology[]
In Final Fantasy VII's Japanese script, the item's name is Shrike's Prey or Mozu no Hayanie. Shrikes are known to use their sharp bills to impale prey with and drag them away whole, later using thorny or sharp branches to store them. The item appears to be a dried impaled frog, likely those of the monster variety around the Gongaga area.
