Louisoix Leveilleur: Eorzea was destroyed by a force of unimaginable power raining down from the sky. It is the dawn of a new age!
The following article covers a subject from a previous version of Grand Company Quests that has since been removed.

The following is a list of Immortal Flames Quests from Final Fantasy XIV version 1.0.

Main Quests[]

Career Opportunities[]

Journal
  • You visit the Hall of Flames in Ul'dah, and are entrusted with a task of the utmost importance by First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey. The desperate attempts of the Immortal Flames to secure the financial backing of an influential merchant named Taylor have all met with failure. Travel to the ferry docks and use your adventurer charms to convince Taylor to donate his wealth to the cause of the Grand Companies.
  • Before funding the operations of the Immortal Flames, Taylor demands that you deliver to him the Archon known as Urianger. Despite his prophetic declarations, the merchant believes it is this man who is attemping to usher in the Seventh Umbral Era. To make the most of any business opportunities the onset of such an era might present, Taylor seeks to obtain as much information from Urianger as possible. Travel southeast of the ferry docks, and there find and seize the Archon.

※ Up to two party members may accompany you.

  • You have defeated the familiar summoned by Urianger, and are immediately met afterwards by a Hyur named Thancred. He explains to you that the Sixth Umbral Era was caused by the corruption and depravity of man. Yet there is hope, he says, for if our weaknesses caused a past Umbral Era, then our strengths can prevent a future one. After asking for your aid in doing so, he leaves. Return to the ferry docks, and speak to Taylor of what has transpired.
  • After telling Taylor of the events concerning Urianger and Thancred, he presents you with a new condition. He agrees to contribute funds to the Immortal Flames, but only if given the power of command. Will the Flames agree to his demand? Return to the Hall of Flames and speak once more to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey.

Kindling a Flame[]

Journal
  • At the behest of First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey, you have joined the Immortal Flames on a provisional basis. To learn more of company currency and the items available for purchase, speak with Flame Sergeant First Class Rahz.

Burning a Hole in One's Pocket[]

Journal
  • Flame Sergeant First Class Rahz has informed you of your limited options as an interim recruit, but has assured you that more will be made available upon official enlistment into the Immortal Flames. She has also suggested that you use the seals currently in your possession to purchase a vial of onyx tears, which will be of use to you on your missions. Speak with First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey once you have done so.

Arms Race[]

Journal
  • At the Hall of Flames, First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey has entrusted you with an urgent task. A certain shipping route, the lifeline of Ul'dahn trade in the east, has been blockaded by a ruthless band of Garlean mercenary brigands known as the Hellhounds. As it is, the desert nation stands to not only to lose vast amounts of gil, but to have their military capabilities compromised as well. The Hellhounds are reported to be somewhere in the vicinity of the Golden Bazaar. Find them and kill them.
  • You have defeated the Hellhounds and reclaimed control of the shipping route. This should serve to protect Ul'dahn trade interests in the east and preserve the might of their military. Return to the Hall of Flames and report back to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey.
  • You learn that the Empire has undertaken a full-blown invasion under the pretext of putting down the rebel Hellhounds, completely closing off the shipping route in the process. Ul'dah must find other means to arm itself for the coming war. Seeking to move before the sea routes are blockaded as well, Aubrey asks that you travel to Limsa Lominsa, and there secure three contracts with makers of weaponry from outside Eorzea.
  • You have succeeded in securing the three contracts. There are rumors, however, that merchants from across the seas are fearing all of Eorzea will soon be laid to waste. Return to the Hall of Flames once more, and report to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey.

Burning Man[]

Journal
  • You have accepted a task of the utmost import from First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey at the Hall of Flames. On multiple occasions, members of the Immortal Flames have been ambushed at the ferry docks to the west of Camp Horizon. Go to the docks and deliver the vengeance of the Flames to whatever enemies lie in wait.
  • You defeated the pirates responsible for the recent series of ambushes against the Immortal Flames. Soon after, Thancred and Urianger appear. Could they have had something to do with the attacks? Speak to them and learn what brings them to the docks.
  • Thancred reveals to you that he and Urianger have both come to Eorzea from far to the northwest, but to what end? For now, return to the Hall of Flames in Ul'dah, and speak to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey.
  • According to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey, General Raubahn is about to give an address commemorating the reformation of the Immortal Flames. Hurry to the Royal Promenade in front of the palace, and observe history in the making.
  • Raubahn's speech served to galvanize the spirits of the Ul'dahns. But what does Thancred, who was also in attendance, make of the Bull of Ala Mhigo's words? Speak to him and hear what he has to say.

Know Your Enemy[]

Journal
  • At the Hall of Flames in Ul'dah, First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey has entrusted you with yet another task. He tells you of a secret contract the Immortal Flames have secured with one Charledore, an engineer of the Garlond Ironworks, to obtain sensitive information. After several reports, however, all contact with Charledore was lost. You are to discover what has come of Charledore and handle the situation accordingly. Travel first to the airship landing and speak to the men and women of the Ironworks assigned to work there.
  • You have learned that Charledore was actually a Garlean spy sent to infiltrate the Garlond Ironworks. His true identity revealed, he has fled, but not after stealing a wealth of secrets concerning the Ironworks, the Immortal Flames, and Ul'dah at large. By no means can the information be allowed to reach the Empire's hands. Travel to the southwest of Camp Horizon, where Charledore was last seen, and continue the search for him.
  • You tracked down the Garlean spy Charledore, but were unable to capture him. The words he spoke prior to his death-defying plunge from atop the cliff where you fought still ring in your ears—traitor... Dalamud... van Darnus... But what could it all mean? Return to the airship landing in Ul'dah, and ask Cid Garlond for some answers.

By Fire Reborn[]

Journal
  • You have officially enrolled as a private in the Immortal Flames, Grand Company of Ul'dah. To hear more of the duties and benefits associated with being a sworn Flame, speak with Second Flame Lieutenant Lannis.

It Kills with Fire (Ul'dah)[]

Journal
  • First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey has assigned you a mission of utmost import. The thaumaturges of Arrzaneth Ossuary claim that the primal Ifrit is the culprit behind the recent changes exhibited by the lesser moon Dalamud. In order to substantiate this theory, you have been tasked with vanquishing the Lord of the Inferno himself. As luck would have it, a native of Sharlayan said to hold the secret to defeating primals is sojourning in Gridania at present. Make your way to Apkallus Falls in Gridania and seek the counsel of the man in question, an elderly Elezen named Louisoix.

※ Only parties consisting of four Disciples of War or Magic level 25 or higher will be allowed to battle the primal Ifrit.
※ All party members must have either completed one of the three "It Kills with Fire" quests or fulfilled the quest requirements for entering the battlefield.
※ Winning the battle with a party of four fully enlisted members of the Immortal Flames will earn you greater rewards.

  • You have met and spoken with Louisoix at Apkallus Falls and learned that he presides over a fellowship called the Circle of Knowing. According to the wizened Elezen, the primals are draining the land of aether. They must be vanquished, lest the power of the crystals be exhausted and Eorzea reduced to a barren wasteland. For the first step, Louisoix requires that you put down the six mighty beasts identified below, and obtain the echo crystals they yield. More will be revealed once you have accomplished this task.
  • Eastern La Noscea:
    • Barometz, northwest of Camp Bloodshore (wind).
    • Slippery Sykes, southeast of Camp Bloodshore (water).
  • Western Thanalan:
    • The nest commander, northwest of Camp Horizon (earth).
    • Pyrausta, west of Camp Horizon (lightning).
  • The South Shroud:
    • Queen Bolete, southwest of Camp Tranquil (ice).
    • The jackanapes, southeast of Camp Tranquil (fire).
  • You have successfully obtained the six echo crystals, one for each of the elements. Make haste and report back to Louisoix at Apkallus Falls in Gridania.
  • Employing his magicks, Louisoix has merged the six echo crystals to create a harmonizing crystal, an object that grants the bearer entry into the Bowl of Embers, Ifrit's sanctuary. However, in order to summon forth the primal, you must first obtain the Inferno Flambeau. The sacred relic is said to be in the possession of the Amalj'aa Voidtongue Ahzabb Chah, who can be found within a cave situated south of Nophica's Wells in western Thanalan.
  • You have relieved Voidtongue Ahzabb Chah of the Inferno Flambeau. Make haste and report back to Louisoix at Apkallus Falls in Gridania.
  • You are now ready to confront Ifrit. Make whatever preparations you deem necessary, and then speak to Louisoix once more.

※ Only parties consisting of four Disciples of War or Magic level 25 or higher will be permitted to battle the primal Ifrit.
※ All party members must have either completed one of the three "It Kills with Fire" quests or fulfilled the quest requirements for entering the battlefield.
※ Winning the battle with a party of four fully enlisted members of the Immortal Flames will earn you greater rewards.
※ The allotted time for the battle is 30 minutes (Earth time).
※ A waiting time applies between challenges, and you will not be permitted to return to the area immediately. (View the Timers tab located under Attributes in the main menu for more information.)

  • You have defeated Ifrit despite overwhelming odds. Your celebration is cut short, however, by the unexpected appearance of Legatus Nael van Darnus of the VIIth Imperial Legion. He proceeds to issue a grim warning concerning the coming of a crimson star which will purge the land of life. Make haste for Gridania and relay to Louisoix all that has transpired.
  • Upon returning to Gridania, you learn that your victory over Ifrit was only fleeting. To compound matters, the likelihood is high that the primal has absorbed the aether that spilled forth from the land, rendering him stronger even than before. With the aetherial gate leading to the Bowl of Embers permanently severed, Louisoix must search for other ways to deal with Ifrit. In the meantime, make your way to the Hall of Flames and report all you have learned to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey.

Like Father, Like Son[]

Journal
  • Upon visiting the Hall of Flames in Ul'dah, First Lieutenant Aubrey entrusts you with an important task. Reports indicate that Garleans at Silvertear Falls in Mor Dhona have begun to mobilize their forces. The Free Brigade of the Immortal Flames, led by High Commander Jakys Ryder, has already been dispatched to intercept an imperial troop marching for Thanalan. You have been ordered to travel to the vicinity of Camp Black Brush in central Thanalan and find them. Join your strength to theirs in the fight against the Garleans.
  • Free Brigade High Commander Ryder has ordered you to travel to a cave located to the northwest of Camp Black Brush and put down any Garleans you encounter. To protect against the new magitek weaponry they are rumored to have, he provides you with an imperial disruptor—an instrument devised by the genius that is the Garlond Ironworks. Use the disruptor to aid you in battle.

※ Up to two party members may accompany you.
※ Remove the enhanced status of any Garleans by using the imperial disruptor High Commander Ryder provided via the interaction menu.

  • You have successfully defeated a group of Garlean soldiers. High Commander Ryder wishes to know the true purpose behind such a small group of imperials marching into Thanalan. Find out what the surviving Garlean knows.
  • The Echo recalls a vision of an encounter between Cid and the White Raven, Nael van Darnus. After a conversation about Dalamud and Meteor, van Darnus attacks Cid, causing the master engineer to fall from the precipice where he stood. Can this truly be the end of the noble Garlond line? Report what you have seen to High Commander Ryder.
  • High Commander Ryder assures you that Cid has arrived safely in Ul'dah. Travel to the city's airship landing and see for yourself.

Careless Whispers[]

Journal
  • Speaking with First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey at the Hall of Flames, you learn that the Syndicate is moving to deal with the imperial plot known as Meteor. As part of the countermeasure, you have been nominated from amongst the ranks of the Immortal Flames to undertake a mission of great import. Take yourself to the Royal Promenade, in front of the royal palace, where you will be furnished with the details of your task.
  • You meet with Flame General Raubahn Aldynn, who apprises you of the matter discussed at the Syndicate meeting. According to Teledji Adeledji of the Monetarists, the Empire has developed a more powerful juggernaut and may already have unleashed it upon Eorzea. You are required to gauge the strength of this new weapon, that the Immortal Flames might better combat it. Make your way to the area west of Camp Horizon in western Thanalan, and help your comrades to repel the invading imperial force.

※ Up to three party members may accompany you. (Recommended)

  • Arriving at the scene of battle, your eyes are met with a horrendous sight: the Immortal Flames sent to engage the enemy have been nigh annihilated. It would appear the new-type juggernaut of which the Flame General spoke is responsible for their downfall. Smite the infernal machine and see that no further lives are lost.

※ Up to three party members may accompany you. (Recommended)

  • It is revealed that the juggernaut you destroyed is but a diversion—the main imperial force means to attack the ferry docks in western Thanalan. Make all haste there before the unthinkable happens.

In for Garuda Wakening (Ul'dah)[]

Journal
  • Before Apkallus Falls, Archon Louisoix of the Circle of Knowing has asked you to investigate the cause of the unnaturally strong winds buffeting the Gridanian hamlet of Quarrymill. He fears it may be the work of none other than Garuda, the savage primal whom the Ixal are wont to summon. Travel to Quarrymill in the South Shroud, and discover whence these fell winds blow.

※ Only parties consisting of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic level 40 or higher will be permitted to battle the primal Garuda.
※ All party members must have either completed one of the three "In for Garuda Wakening" quests or fulfilled the quest requirements for entering the battlefield.
※ Winning the battle with a party composed only of fully enlisted members of the Immortal Flames will earn you greater rewards.

  • You discovered the source of the winds buffeting Quarrymill to be a being with the traits of both bird and man. Could this be the primal Garuda? Hasten back to Gridania and report all that you have seen to Louisoix.
  • Louisoix confirms that the being you witnessed assailing Quarrymill was indeed Garuda. He then constructs for you a vortex catcher from the vortex feathers you obtained at the scene. With it in your possession, he claims that you will be able to use a beastman aetheryte found in a cave in the northeastern part of Feathergorge to reach the Howling Eye. Having made the necessary preparations, sally forth and defeat Garuda.

※ The allotted time for the battle is 30 minutes (Earth time).
※ A waiting time applies between challenges, and you will not be permitted to return to the area immediately. (View the Timers tab located under Attributes in the main menu for more information.)

  • You have achieved victory in battle over the wind primal Garuda. Tragically, however, the power of the crystals you wrested from her grasp was quickly claimed by Dalamud. Nael van Darnus, legatus of the Empire's VIIth Legion, tells you that the more adventurers struggle against Garlemald, the more power shall find its way to the red moon of Allag. Return to Louisoix and tell him all that has transpired.
  • Louisoix contends that Nael van Darnus may be harboring ambitions that differ from those of the Empire at large. To learn what the White Raven could seek by channeling energy to Dalamud, the Archon desires to hear Master Cid Garlond's thoughts on the matter. He will arrange a meeting, and asks that you return to the Hall of Flames in Ul'dah to attend.
  • Back at the Hall of Flames, Cid Garlond tells you much of the man-made red moon, Dalamud. It is known to be drawing nearer and nearer Hydaelyn, on a course that will bring it crashing down upon Eorzea. There can be no doubt that the Empire is using some unknown means to control Dalamud's trajectory, and it is knowledge of that which Master Garlond now seeks. Before returning to his studies, Cid passes on word that Flame General Raubahn himself wishes to see you, and awaits your presence on the Royal Promenade.
  • You have spoken with Raubahn in the Hall of Fragrance on the Royal Promenade. Much has happened in the wake of the great scare brought about by the coming of the imperial vanguard. Raubahn has found an ally in Teledji Adeledji, who vows that his Monetarists—who had until recently entertained thoughts of reconciliation with Garlemald—shall henceforth devote all their energies to supporting the Immortal Flames. While the influential Lalafell buys time by deceiving the Garleans with empty negotiations, the strength of Ul'dah's Grand Company must be bolstered. Raubahn tells you of his intent to reforge the Eorzean Alliance of ten years past, and asks that you play a central role in this uniting of Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, and Gridania under one banner. Your audience with the Bull of Ala Mhigo ended, return to the Hall of Flames and claim your reward for felling Garuda from Lieutenant Aubrey.

Don't Hate the Messenger (Ul'dah)[]

Journal
  • First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey informs you that the Garleans have established a new stronghold in Mor Dhona, a stone's throw from the Gridanian border. In the midst of Raubahn's struggles with manpower and resource shortages in this time of war, he has received an urgent plea from Elder Seedseer Kan-E-Senna, requesting his support in reforging the Eorzean Alliance. As the Flame General's emissary, travel to the Lotus Stand in Gridania, by way of the clearing before Stillglade Fane, and there hear the terms Kan-E-Senna proposes.
  • You find Master Cid Garlond at the Lotus Stand. Perhaps he might have some information valuable to the fate of the Eorzean Alliance. Speak to him and find out.
  • Cid tells you that the imperial stronghold in Mor Dhona is called Castrum Novum. He goes on to say that it is the likely location of the Garleans' lunar transmitter—the device designed to control the red moon, Dalamud. Though more information is needed, he claims the united forces of the Eorzean Alliance will be necessary to obtain it. Speak to the Elder Seedseer, Kan-E-Senna, to hear what she proposes.
  • You have listened to the words of Kan-E-Senna at the Lotus Stand. Prospects are grim for Gridania, as they are not like to withstand the brunt of the Garlean offensive for much longer. Should the forest nation fall, the Empire will no doubt turn its wrath next upon Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa, both of which stand alone. The Elder Seedseer has asked you to convince Flame General Raubahn to commit to the remaking of the Eorzean Alliance. It seems Cid has something he wishes to impart to you. Speak with him once more.
  • Cid has shared his thoughts with you once more at the Lotus Stand. The might of Garlemald is indeed such that Eorzea can only hope to oppose it with the three nations united. Return to the Fragrant Chamber in Ul'dah by way of the Royal Promenade. There, report all that you have heard to Flame General Raubahn.
  • In the Fragrant Chamber, Raubahn admits that the requests made by the Elder Seedseer would stretch Ul'dah's resources to breaking point. After deliberation, the Flame General confides that he is unable to commit to the alliance without first knowing the intentions of Limsa Lominsa, and is loath to enter into an alliance in which the maritime nation would command the majority rule. He has combined both his and Kan-E-Senna's terms in a letter, which he asks that you deliver to Admiral Merlwyb. Travel to Limsa Lominsa's stateroom by way of the Admiral's Lift and there seek an audience with her.
  • Speaking with Admiral Merlwyb, you learn that she too believes the requests made by Gridania would place an unsustainable burden upon Limsa Lominsa's resources. She reveals that entering into an alliance would require her to rely upon the infamously untrustworthy pirates of her nation's seas. Though she is willing to take such a risk, she seeks guarantees that the ambitions of Ul'dah will be kept in check. She proceeds to inform you that a messenger has arrived from the Hall of Flames. Speak to the officer outside to learn more.
  • The messenger from the Hall of Flames arrived with new orders. You are to travel to the area southwest of Camp Brittlebark in Mor Dhona. You will learn more when you arrive.
  • You encounter Cid once again, to the southwest of Camp Brittlebark, where he informs you that the Garlond Ironworks succeeded in shooting down an imperial warship bound for Castrum Novum. He asks that you travel to the site of the wreckage, to the northwest, and search for any remains which might provide insight into the imperial stronghold or the lunar transmitter he believes it houses.
  • You obtain an imperial strongbox key after defeating a group of Garleans in the vicinity of the site where the imperial warship came down. Use it to open the nearby strongbox. Perhaps it will contain some information that may be of use.
  • You cross paths with one Gaius van Baelsar, Legatus of the XIVth Legion of Garlemald. He states that the destruction of Eorzea is little more than a means to eliminate the primals. But it would seem that Nael van Darnus, Legatus of the VIIth Legion, has sinister ambitions of his own. It is perhaps for this reason that van Baelsar makes no attempt to prevent you from taking the Castrum Novum schematics you discovered and returning to Cid. Find him to the southwest of Camp Brittlebark in Mor Dhona, and tell him all you have learned.
  • You have told Cid all that you heard from Gaius van Baelsar. He determines that the set of Garlean schematics you obtained are in fact related to the lunar transmitter. As he suspected, the transmitter has been constructed within the stronghold of Castrum Novum. He informs you that he will analyze the set of Garlean schematics further in the hope of discovering a means to destroy the device. Even should he find one, he adds that any assault on the stronghold and its transmitter would require the combined strength of the three free nations. The council of leaders called by Kan-E-Senna cannot now be ignored. Travel to the Lotus Stand in Gridania, by way of the clearing before Stillglade Fane.
  • Upon arriving in Gridania, you encounter the Archons of the Circle of Knowing assembled in the clearing before Stillglade Fane. They, too, have come to attend the council called by Kan-E-Senna. Find and speak to Thancred, who was the Archon instrumental in the forming of the Immortal Flames.
  • The leaders of the three nations have reached an accord, and the Eorzean Alliance has been remade. Amidst the jubilation, however, word arrives that the lunar transmitter has begun to function. Speak to Flame General Raubahn and Cid to learn what course of action is to be taken.
  • Flame General Raubahn and Cid have asked that you join the forces gathering to stage an assault on the Garlean stronghold of Castrum Novum. Speak with Flame Marshal Roaille to claim your reward and learn where the allied forces are stationed.

United We Stand (Ul'dah)[]

Journal

With the Eorzean Alliance reforged, the three Grand Companies are making ready to launch a joint offensive against the Empire. Leading a small contingent, your mission is to infiltrate the imperial stronghold Castrum Novum, and destroy the lunar transmitter housed therein. Serpent Commander Vevina Yarborough will furnish you with additional information regarding your objective.

※ Only parties consisting of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic level 45 or above will be permitted to attempt this mission.

※ The allotted time for destroying the lunar transmitter is 30 minutes (Earth time).
※ A waiting time applies between attempts, and you will not be permitted to return to the area immediately. (View the Timers tab located under Attributes in the main menu for more information.)

  • Winning your way to the heart of Castrum Novum, you succeed in destroying the lunar transmitter, whereupon Legatus Nael van Darnus of the VIIth Legion emerges. Clearly agitated, the man speaks ominous words before fleeing the scene. From what little sense you can make of his ravings, the White Raven may yet possess the means to summon Dalamud to Eorzea. Deliver these grim tidings to Flame General Raubahn Aldynn and Cid, who await at the Fragrant Chamber in Ul'dah.
  • In the Fragrant Chamber, the Flame General listens intently as you recount all that transpired at Castrum Novum. Your tale told, Raubahn pledges to spare no resources in the hunt for Nael van Darnus, and asks that you cooperate with Cid Garlond and Louisoix in any way they see fit. For your show of valor, a reward has been prepared, which can be collected from Flame Marshal Roaille.

To Kill a Raven (Ul'dah)[]

Journal
  • At the Hall of Flames, Flame Lieutenant Aubrey informs you that the Eorzean Alliance has successfully tracked down Nael van Darnus. An emergency council will convene at the Lotus Stand in Gridania to deliberate a course of action. You have been ordered to join Flame General Raubahn for the proceedings.
  • At the Lotus Stand, you learn that Nael van Darnus has fled southeast of Camp Glory in Coerthas, to a place where the Allagan civilization once flourished. The Flame General bids you go to the area in question, whereupon you are to confirm the White Raven's presence and survey the surroundings.

※ Only parties consisting of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic with a level of 45 or above will be permitted to attempt this mission.

  • Upon arriving at your destination, southeast of Camp Glory, your eyes are met with a disquieting spectacle: an intense beam of light is being sent skywards to Dalamud from a floating mass of land. As if in answer, the red moon spews forth endless cascades of fiery boulders. You are past certain that Nael van Darnus is responsible for this ominous phenomenon. Deliver these tidings to the Flame General, who awaits you at the Lotus Stand in Gridania.
  • Back at the Lotus Stand, Flame General Raubahn entrusts you with a mission of great import: you are to lead an assault on the floating isle and slay Nael van Darnus. Cid Garlond should be able to assist you in landing a contingent there.
  • Cid reveals that it was the tragedy at Bozja Citadel which opened his eyes to the evil of the Empire, and persuaded him to forsake his homeland. Holding himself accountable for the threat that Meteor now poses to Eorzea, he means to do all in his power to foil Nael van Darnus's deranged ambitions. Cid offers to transport you and your comrades to the floating isle by way of his personal airship, the Enterprise. Make ready, then meet him at the airship landing in Gridania.

※ Only parties consisting of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic with a level of 45 or above will be permitted to attempt this mission.

  • Speaking with Cid at the airship landing, you reaffirm your resolve to bring down the White Raven. Finalize your preparations, and then speak with Serpent Private Hodder to board the Enterprise.

※ Only parties consisting of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic with a level of 45 or above will be permitted to attempt this mission.
※ All party members must have fulfilled the entry requirements for one of the three "To Kill a Raven" quests.
※ Completing the objective with a party containing representatives from all three Grand Companies will earn you greater rewards.
※ The allotted time for the battle is 30 minutes (Earth time).
※ A waiting time applies between attempts, and you will not be permitted to return to the area immediately. (View the Timers tab located under Attributes in the main menu for more information.)

  • Following an epic struggle, you and your comrades emerge triumphant over Nael van Darnus. Although the White Raven is forever grounded, you cannot suppress a sense of dread that disaster still looms. Perhaps Cid will be able to lay your doubts to rest...
  • Cid reassures you that the Seventh Umbral Era has been averted. With Nael van Darnus dead and the floating isle collapsed, Dalamud can no longer descend. The Flame General will be much relieved to hear these tidings. Make haste back to the Lotus Stand, where he awaits.

Rank Advancement Quests[]

Gore a Lizard, Hurry[]

Journal
  • At the Hall of Flames, First Lieutenant Aubrey tells you of an important mission aimed at crippling the Amalj'aa, who mean to take advantage of Ul'dah's preoccupation with the Empire by mounting an opportunistic offensive. After careful surveillance, the Immortal Flames have devised a plan to deprive the lizardmen of the means to make war by striking their supply lines. You are to travel to the Amalj'aa altar in eastern Thanalan and find First Commander Ashdale, who will have orders for you.
  • First Commander Ashdale has laid out the details of the mission. His unit will ambush the Amalj'aa supply convoy that is scheduled to arrive at any moment. To divert attention and incite chaos, you have been ordered to storm the nearby altar. Kill as many Amalj'aa as you are able.

The Immortal Flames have learned that foul beasts have been gathering and lurking in a dungeon known as the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak within the South Shroud. Though a force was sent to investigate, the Flames have since lost all contact with them. Aubrey asks that you enter the Maws and search for the missing men. You must first travel to the Wailing Barracks in Gridania, and there obtain the permission of the Wood Wailers to enter the dungeon.

※ Only parties of two to four Disciples of War or Magic level 25 or higher will be granted entry to the dungeon.

  • You arrive at the entrance to the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak, where an Elezen chap by the name of Bloisirant proceeds to talk at you. Make thorough preparations before braving the dungeon depths to search for the missing Ul'dahn contingent.

※ Only parties of two to four Disciples of War or Magic level 25 or higher will be granted entry to the dungeon.
※ Dungeon timers can be found on the Timers tab located under Attributes in the main menu.

  • A moogle within the Thousand Maws presents you with a shatterd gauntlet and a magitek cooling plate, and tells you that not only beasts are lurking within the dungeon, but Garleans as well! The contingent from Ul'dah met an ill fate at the hands of such perils. Go and speak once more to Bloisirant at the dungeon entrance, and tell him of your findings.
  • You have completed your search of the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak. Return to the Hall of Flames in Ul'dah, and report to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey.

Into the Dark (Ul'dah)[]

Journal
  • Upon visiting the Hall of Flames once more, First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey informs you that a fortress known as Dzemael Darkhold, located in the mountains of Ishgard, has fallen under Garlean control. Even more importantly, Nael van Darnus, the infamous Legatus of the VIIth Legion, has been sighted among the imperials on site. You are to join the forces of House Fortemps as they move to investigate the Darkhold and discover what the Empire seeks to achieve there. Travel first to Owl's Nest, and speak to the commander of House Fortemps's knights, Ser Artoirel.

※ Only parties of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic level 45 or higher will be granted entry to the dungeon.
※ By accepting this quest, "Into the Dark (Gridania)" and "Into the Dark (Limsa Lominsa)" will become unavailable and remain so until the quest is completed or abandoned.

  • Ser Vairemont, a haughty knight posted at Owl's Nest, informs you that Ser Artoirel has already set out for Dzemael Darkhold with the main force of House Fortemps after learning that the Legatus of the VIIth Legion, one Nael van Darnus, had been sighted amongst the imperials there. Travel to the Darkhold, south of Camp Dragonhead in the central highlands of Coerthas.

※ Only parties of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic level 45 or higher will be granted entry to the dungeon.

  • Ser Artoirel and his knights have been surrounded within the Darkhold following a cunning pincer movement by the imperials. Make what preparations you must, then enter the Darkhold and aid the embattled Ishgardians by slaying the imperial primus ordinarius.

※ Only parties of four to eight Disciples of War or Magic level 45 or higher will be granted entry to the dungeon.
※ Dungeon timers can be found on the Timers tab located under Attributes in the main menu.

  • You have slain the Garleans you encountered within Dzemael Darkhold and obtained proof of their demise. Indeed, the silver-winged kabuto you plucked from one of the corpses looks to be the helm of an officer—perhaps even a Legatus! Return to Owl's Nest and report to Ser Vairemont.
  • The imperial wearing the silver-winged kabuto was not the Legatus, but one of his many decoys deployed amongst the troops as a defensive tactic. It would seem the cunning and tactical genius of Nael van Darnus has gotten the better of the Knights of Ishgard this time around. But to what end has Van Darnus seized control of the Darkhold? Return to the Hall of Flames in Ul'dah and report to First Flame Lieutenant Aubrey.

Different Strokes[]

Journal
  • Galeren of the Coliseum informs you of the animosity that exists between the Ul'dahns and the Ala Mhigans of the Immortal Flames. He goes on to tell you that the Ul'dahn members of a newly formed force known as the Beastcleavers have marched forth from the city without disclosing the details of their mission to their Ala Mhigan comrades. Hurry to Pearl Lane, and pass on the information to one Sergeant Cotter.
  • After making the destination of the Beastcleavers known to Sergeant Cotter, he informs you that the path they are taking is infested with ferocious beasts. Hurry to the northeast of Camp Drybone, and warn the Ul'dahns of the dangers awaiting them.

  • After hearing Sergeant Cotter's warning, the Ul'dahn Beastcleavers have decided to return to Ul'dah and rethink the route of their march. Visit Galeren at the Coliseum once more, and report all that has happened.

Prying Eyes[]

Journal
  • Lefchild tells you of the demand made by the Immortal Flames that Eshtaime's Lapidaries realign its philosophy with the war effort. For their part, the goldsmiths are designing a new accessory to issue to the Flames, but are undecided on which of two materials to use—cobalt eyes or prismatic eyes. Though both are procured from coblyns, the latter is a much more magnificent stone thought to be obtainable only from a rare type of mutated coblyn. Lefchild asks that you travel to the mesas east of Camp Horizon in Thanalan, and there slay thirty coblyns in an attempt to acquire one of these elusive stones. Use the chunk of omnomite Lefchild has provided to lure the beasts to you.
  • You were able to prize a prismatic eye from the eye socket of a dead coblyn. Return to Eshtaime's Lapidaries and deliver it to Lefchild.

A Weaver and a Mummer[]

Journal
  • Speaking with Cahernaut of Sunsilk Tapestries, you learn that the weaver has been commissioned by the Immortal Flames to set up a traveling theater company for the purpose of lifting troop morale on the front lines. Being unfamiliar with war, however, the man is unsure how best to undertake the task. Cahernaut requests that you go and ascertain the situation at the mesa that rises northeast of Nophica's Wells, that he might gain some insight into the mind of a soldier.

※ Up to two party members may accompany you.

  • You are set upon by Garlean forces upon arriving at the mesa. Take yourself back to Sunsilk Tapestries in Ul'dah and report to Cahernaut all that you saw and felt—the knowledge may be of some benefit to his cause.

When Alchemists Cry[]

Journal
  • The alchemist Berthar tells you of a failed attack against the encampment of Zahar'ak in which many men of the Immortal Flames were slain by the Amalj'aa's war drakes. To prevent another such tragedy, he has concocted a poison known as the Tears of Nymeia to kill the drakes, and asks that you mix it in with the meat used to feed them. Speak to Jandonaut at Camp Broken Water in southern Thanalan to learn where the Amalj'aa keep the fodder for their drakes.
  • Jandonaut informs you of three places in Zahar'ak where what could only be feed for the drakes is kept—two near the armored vehicles close to the camp's entrance, and another near the structures beyond. Visit each of the three, and mix the Tears of Nymeia in with whatever foulness you find.
  • You succeeded in lacing all three piles of drake feed with the deadly Tears of Nymeia. Return to Camp Broken Water and speak to Jandonaut once more.

Challenge Accepted[]

Alas, an alarming number of the defaulters have been losing their lives while in service to the brigade. Take yourself to the mesa that rises south of Mythril Pit No. 8 in eastern Thanalan, and observe the Free Brigade as they go through their drills.

※ Up to two party members may accompany you.

  • You arrive at the mesa to find High Commander Ryder by himself. Could the man truly be putting his underlings to the sword? For want of a better way to uncover the truth, you must confront and question the high commander.
