Enemy Intel
Ifrit is an optional boss in Final Fantasy VII Remake fought as part of the "Top Secrets" gauntlet up to Pride and Joy Prototype in the Shinra Combat Simulator in Chapter 17, "Deliverance from Chaos" in hard mode. Bahamut summons him to battle at half health. Ifrit is also fought in optional combat simulator battles in "Episode INTERmission".
Stats[]
Battle[]
Ifrit makes his entrance when Bahamut is at half health. He mostly concentrates attacking the player-controlled character with fire-elemental attacks, usually in close range. He uses same attacks as when he is a summon, with the exception of his cinematic attack, Hellfire. He is weak to Ice and absorbs
Fire.
Strategy[]
Equipping Fire Materia with
Elemental Materia in armor is a good setup for both against Ifrit, as well as against the Pride and Joy Prototype itself. If the elemental materia are maxed out, Ifrit's attacks heal the users, and thus he is less of a threat. Ifrit can be dealt with using powerful spells; he is weak to
Ice, but the
Lightning Materia may be more useful for the gauntlet than
Ice Materia as no one absorbs it, and Leviathan and Pride and Joy are weak to it. Thus thunder magic suffices against Ifrit if the player does not have the space to bring an ice materia as well. Aerith is the party's best magic-user, especially with her Arcane Ward, but the player can choose their battle formation to their liking and any combination is viable. Ifrit does not have overly high HP, so if the player has their limit breaks ready, they can severely chip into his health with this one move. Transference Module on Cloud or Tifa is useful to build their limits up faster. Cloud's Counterstance is useful against Ifrit.
Episode INTERmission[]
Bahamut & Ifrit battle in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade "Episode INTERmission"
Ifrit makes appearance from 3:00 onwards.
When Bahamut summons Ifrit, a fully-charged Icy Banishment followed by a few Synergized Art of Wars should be used to take him down quickly, while continuing to avoid Bahamut's attacks. Defeating Bahamut first can make Ifrit on his own an insignificant threat. If Yuffie is equipped with elemental paired with a fire materia, she can tank Ifrit's attacks safely if the materia is leveled up high enough; the previous Combat Simulator round can be used for quick AP-grinding. Sonon's Twirling Lunge when Ifrit is pressured is effective. Sonon should have synergy materia with wind or ice materia; though ice hits Ifrit's weakness, wind is more useful for the round after Bahamut and Ifrit.
