The Hydra (ヒドラ, Hidora?) is a field boss in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers relative of the Malboro.
Battle[]
Hydra begins the battle with its core submerged and immune to attacks. The player will have to attack its tentacles, defeating them one by one to get the hydra to slowly surface. After slaying two tentacles, the player is able to target him. Destroying all four will have him surface completely, allowing Layle to yank its mouth open and force it to bite its tongue and throw objects at him, which will cause it to fill up slowly until it drowns. It is recommended to search the area for the Excalibur sword, found on the pond's central island. The sword is easily the strongest projectile the player can find, making it useful in this fight.
Etymology[]
Hydra was one of the spawn of Echidna, a many-headed serpentine monstrosity in Ancient Greek mythology. It could breathe poison, and indeed its very blood was deadly. The Hydra was killed as one of Heracles's Twelve Labors.
