Hunt board in Final Fantasy XII.

Hunts, missions or dailies, are a type of monster-slaying sidequest in many Final Fantasy games. The player will typically address a notice board of some type in a fixed location that gets updated with new hunts as the game progresses. The targets of these hunts are typically called marks, with stronger marks often referred as elite marks. The player will then tale on these optional hunts and collect the bounty afterward. Sometimes the game's superbosses are found as high level hunts. Though typically optional, sometimes a tutorial hunt or another hunt is part of the game's main quest.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XII[]

Pubs in towns have a hunt board where the player can find a list of petitioners looking for hunters to slay bothersome foes in Ivalice. If the player joins Clan Centurio, they get access to Elite Marks, the toughest hunts for expert hunters.

Final Fantasy XIII[]

FFXIII First Mission

The first mark.

Cie'th Stone Missions give the player party a target monster to defeat on the world of Gran Pulse. Missions are repeatable. There are 64 missions in all.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Hunt XIV

Hunts are sidequests where the player hunts down particular monsters. Hunt bills are pinned on the notice boards in all three headquarters of the Grand Companies. There are five ranks of marks; B, A, S, and the unusual B+ and SS. The higher rank the more rewards for the hunter.

Final Fantasy XV[]

Hunts are a sub-type of quests. Rather than there being a notice board, the player learns if active hunts from tipsters at the local restaurants. The player advances in hunter rank as they fell more hunts, gaining access to higher level hunts.

Final Fantasy XVI[]

Nektar at The Hideaway operates the hunt board where Clive can learn of monsters roaming somewhere in Valisthea that someone has requested to be slain. Some hunts are part of other sidequests.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia[]

Initially known as Hunts when they debuted in the second year, the Dailies typically allow players to fight various forms of Gigantuar at level 120 for random items as long as they have a Permit to do so. One Permit is given at the start of each game day (0800 UTC), and the player may hold up to three (3) Dailies Permits at any time with any amount over three discarded. Each Dailies quest also awards two (2) Hunt Tokens upon successful completion. These can be turned in at the Dailies Exchange for virtually any consumable item, with all exchange rates posted in-shop.

Aside from the regular Dailies, an Elite Hunt Permit is offered every Monday via the Dissidia Points (DP) Exchange, featuring a battle against a random prior boss at level 180 (equivalent to a CHAOS difficulty battle). The Permit can be purchased for 300 DP, and is valid for up to one week. Only one may be held per player per week, operating separately from the regular Dailies Permit.

Seasonal festivals and other special events may offer Hunt Permits of their own. Requirements, rewards, and methods of acquisition may vary by event.
