Hullbreaker Isle (Hard) is a Dungeon Dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. It was added in Patch 3.3.

Story[]

FFXIV Hullbreaker Isle Hard

Hullbreaker Isle (Hard).

To the chagrin of countless treasure hunters, the golden coffer of the legendary Mistbeard was not to be found on Hullbreaker Isle. And so like the mists which had withdrawn to reveal the isle did those ambitious souls depart to seek fame and fortune elsewhere, allowing Eynzahr Slafyrsyn to quietly petition Admiral Merlwyb for permission to repurpose it as a training ground for Maelstrom recruits.

The storm marshal would have you be the first to brave this gauntlet, that you might pit yourself against the isle's fearsome fauna and the Maelstrom's elite, and in so doing rouse their spirits. Will you give the storm officers a beating they will not soon forget, or will they stand triumphant at the last and shout that they have bested the Warrior of Light?

Progression[]

The party begins on the landing beach on a hot day. The first section involves training beasts - raptors, battle birds, a waruochs, jackals, and a coeurl. Once the beasts are cleared, the party encounters more "civilized" targets, Captain Rhoswen's Sanguine Sirens. This boss fight consists of a wave of female pirates, while avoiding cannon fire from above and combat coeurls. Once enough are defeated, Rhoswen lets them move on.

Further into the jungle, many sasquatches and a tiger are encountered. Defeating them lets the party drop into a cavern with large slugs. In the next room, Captain Carvallain unveils the Kraken Arms latest acquisition, a live Ymir. This giant mollusc confounds the party with ice and thunder magicks. Once defeated, Carvellain laments his purchasing decisions while letting the party move forward.

The final training area is the Hell of Waves, where Maelstrom soldiers are encountered. First, two roegadyn marauders called High Tide & Low Tide must be fought. The next platform holds Barracuda Elites, trained in the arts of Rogues. The third platform has Storm Commander R'hashaht Rhiki, who challenges the party with an axe. And on the final platform is the Grand Storm Marshal himself, Eynzahr Slafyrsyn. Initially fighting as a marauder, he soon dons his Mistbeard mask for old times sake and changes strategy, utilizing firearms and deadly traps.
