Homing Laser (ホーミングレーザー, Hōmingu Rēzā?), also known as Homing Ray or Homing Lasers (誘導レーザー, Yūdō Rēzā?, lit. Guided Laser) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy VII Remake[]
Homing Laser is an ability used by The Arsenal boss fought by Aerith and Barret as the end boss in Chapter 17, "Deliverance from Chaos". The boss charges its front cannon for 5 seconds to unleash purple homing lasers. The attack is stopped if the boss's weak point takes 1500 damage, or Barret hits it with Focused Shot, Maximum Fury, or Overcharge.
Final Fantasy VIII[]
Homing Laser is Quistis's Blue Magic spell learned from the Laser Cannon, which is a drop from Mobile Type 8 or level 30+ Belhelmel. They can also be mugged from level 30+ Elastoids.
Homing Laser causes moderate damage to a single target, with a base Attack power of 100 at Crisis Level 1, and goes up by 50, to a maximum of 250 Attack power, for each Crisis Level.
The enemy version of the spell is the Mobile Type 8's probes' laser attacks.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Homing Lasers is an enemy ability used by the Ultima Weapon and Ruby Weapon during the various battles against them. It most frequently deals randomly targeted area of effect damage. In The Porta Decumana, the Ultima Weapon instead uses Homing Lasers as a single target tankbuster; Homing Ray is instead used for Homing Lasers original function of random AoE damage.
