Abilities[]
Holy Sword[]
Holy knight job command. Smite the foe with holy sword techniques.
Agrias and Delita
White knight job command. Advanced sword skills punish the foe with sacred techniques.
Wiegraf
Agrias, Delita, and Wiegraf must be equipped with a sword to use Holy Sword abilities.
Damage inflicted with Holy Sword abilities is calculated by a unit's physical attack and its right-handed weapon's strength. Holy Sword contains powerful abilities that deal damage and inflict status effects to the target without the requisite of charging time or MP. The user must be equipped with a sword or a knight sword to use them.
Despite its name and help message, Holy Sword abilities are not associated with the Holy element. Instead, the elemental attribute depends on the user's equipped weapon, primarily the one on the right hand. The AI still mistakenly regards them as Holy-elemental, and will not use them if the target is immune to Holy.

Overview[]
The Holy Knight is one of the "special Knight" jobs, capable of dealing physical damage from both short and long ranges, while boasting high stats across the board. Its Holy Sword is a force to be reckoned with, and it has some of the strongest abilities in chapter 2, being instant and costing no MP, and also having a small chance to inflict status ailments onto the targets. Holy Sword abilities become even more powerful once the player obtains knight swords, which not only have high power, but also grant passive effects to their wielder. Agrias is the only playable Holy Knight (should the player recruit her), with Delita being a guest character. Wiegraf is an enemy "White Knight" with similar abilities and strength to a Holy Knight.
The Holy Knight has high magickal stats and MP, making it effective with job commands that focus on spellcasting, specially supportive. Time Magic, in particular, is useful for Haste, to further enable the Holy Knight and its allies, while White Magick can aid the team with healing when needed. The Holy Knight can be equipped with robes to increase its MP pool. The Holy Knight can also make decent of use of Geomancy, primarily the free reaction ability, Nature's Wrath, as its damage is calculated on both physical and magickal attack.
If the player manages to steal a Runeblade from random encounter knights in chapter 3 (before it becomes available in stores and power-crept by chapter 4 knight swords), it boosts Agrias's magick attack by 2 and vastly improves Iaido and Orator builds, with another +2 MA from a Wizard's Robe.
To maximize the Holy Knight's damage output from Holy Sword, it is recommended to boost physical attack as much as possible. The Geomancer's Attack Boost support ability increases attack by 33%, while the Dancer's Fury reaction ability grants +1 attack whenever taking damage. The player can further supplement the job with accessories, such the Bracers or the Tynar Rouge, with the latter being one of the strongest accessories in the game, only available for female units.
Agrias's Holy Knight has second highest physical evasion of all classes after Ninja, and tied with Balthier's Sky Pirate. By equipping her with high evasion shields, cloaks, and the Shirahadori reaction ability from Samurai, Agrias becomes very hard to hit.
The Holy Knight's downsides lie in its low mobility, speed, and physical attack. The Holy Knight benefits from movement abilities, such as its own Move +1, Thief's Move +2, or even Teleport, as well as Battle Boots, which help tremendously when Agrias is a guest. When Agrias becomes a permanent character after the battle of Balias Swale, she can start off much better if the player reloads that battle until she randomly learns either her expensive Hallowed Bolt or Divine Ruination ranged abilities in her abilities menu, saving plenty of time from her weaker abilities, as Agrias loses her previous guest job unlocks and abilities.
The downside of the low physical attack can be mitigated with good support skills, such as White Magick, Iaido once katanas are in stock from chapter 2 (Samurai also has doublehand), or Mystic while quickly getting JP after using the Equip Sword ability and reverting to this job.
Hermes' Shoes and Adrenaline Rush can help with speed, though chapter 4 has much stronger characters with the Divine Knight Meliadoul Tengille and Sword Saint Cidolfus Orlandeau, who join with powerful knight swords while able to increase strength with power garbs and the Sword Saint can boost speed with a Thief's Cap to hold its own.
Behind the scenes[]
The concept of Northswain's Strike's additional instant death effect refers to the Chinese deity of Northern Dipper being associated with death, whose role is similar to that of the Grim Reaper.
In the original version, "Stasis Sword" is mistranslated as "Steady Sword" in the battle line.
