Hinageshi Wright is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV.

History[]

Born into a family of botanists, Hinageshi was named after a flower from the Far East. She joined the Studium where she developed feelings for Professor Tankin. Because Tankin was taking too long to decide on his next research project topic, Hinageshi was worried that Studium might cut off funding for his work. Hinageshi asked the Warrior of Light to help Professor Tankin with his research. Once Warrior of Light returns with Tankin, the professor explains that his research would be focused on recreating the lifestyles of other cultures so that he can ascertain which one is best suited to enrich the lives of the people in Sharlayan. The Warrior of Light has agreed to help him by gathering any materials they need to conduct the research.[1] Hinageshi and Tankin then simulated the life of Radz-at-Han, Garlemald, and following the suggestions of the Warrior of Light simulated the life in Mare Lamentorum.

Hinageshi and Tankin set off on a research trip to the Far East, which would be the next culture they would study. They used the experimental aetheryte in Old Sharlayan to reach Radz-at-Han and then made their way to Kugane. During the tour of the city, Hinageshi got lost from Tankin. Although it was only for a short time, this made Hinageshi feel sad for causing trouble for Tankin. To cheer up Hinageshi, Tankin decided to present her with a hairpin to lift her spirits.[2] Once back on Sharlayan, Tankin decides he also intends to study the life of ancient civilizations. With the help of the Warrior of Light, they simulate the culture of Elpis.

Tankin announces that his research will come to an end. Hinageshi says that she will return home to meet her parents and an unknown suitor. Tankin explains to the Warrior of Light that he has feelings for Hinageshi and that he will not give up on her. With the help of the Warrior of Light, Tankin creates an eternity ring for Hinageshi. Tankin asks the Warrior of Light to deliver a letter to Hinageshi asking her to return. Once she returns, Professor Tankin asks Hinageshi to marry him. He worries that she will choose her mysterious suitor, but his fears of rejection are soon allayed when she explains that this "suitor" is actually a financial supporter of her parents' botanical research. Hinageshi thanks the Warrior of Light for not only helping with the research, but for bringing her and Tankin together.[3]
