The Helldiver (ダイブイーグル, Daibuīguru?, lit. Dive Eagle or ヘルダイバー, Herudaibā?), also known as the Hell Diver, Eagle, or Dive Talon, is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy, first appearing in Final Fantasy II. Most frequently appearing as a bird, an airborne magitek armor variant debuted in Final Fantasy Type-0 and has had recurring appearances since.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy II[]
The Helldiver appears as an enemy in the Dreadnought and at sea before acquiring Ultima. It is a weak enemy that can be easily defeated.
Final Fantasy III[]
The Helldiver appears as an enemy on Dragon's Peak. It can inflict Petrify on a target with physical attacks, though is weak to Wind, and drops Gold Needle often to remedy it.
Final Fantasy IV[]
The Helldiver, also known as the Eagle, appears as an enemy in the Baron region. It can use Beak to inflict Petrify, but its attacks do not deal significant damage otherwise, and it is defeated easily with bows and arrows. It is capable of dropping the Cockatrice item that teaches the summon of the same name.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]
The Helldiver returns as an enemy in the Mythril region, Troia region, and Tower of Trials. It does not deal any significant damage. It can once more drop the Cockatrice item.
Final Fantasy XI[]
The Helldiver appears as a notorious monster from the bird family. It has a chance to spawn in place of the Zus in Buburimu Peninsula. It can also be encountered in Nyzul Isle.
Final Fantasy XII[]
The Dive Talon appears as an enemy found in the Dalmasca Ester- and Westersands. It is a flying enemy, and can only be defeated using ranged weapons, magick and ranged Technicks. The Dive Talon is docile and will not attack if left alone.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
The Helldiver appears as a series of magitek armors employed by the Garlean Empire, most frequently appearing in the Bozja region.
Final Fantasy XVI[]
The Helldiver appears as a common enemy encountered throughout Dhalmekia, appearing as a regular enemy and during the sidequest Trading Places.
Final Fantasy Type-0[]
The Helldiver during the missions "The Clash on Big Bridge" and "The Last Line of Defense."
The Final Fantasy Legend[]
The Eagle appears as an enemy encountered on the 5th floor of the Tower, and a potential transformation for the party's monster units.
Final Fantasy Legend II[]
The Eagle appears as an enemy encountered in Ashura's World, the Desert Town, and Ashura's Tower, and a potential transformation for the party's monster units.

The Dive Talon appears as an enemy in the Dalnakya and Argus Plains story dungeons, the Vortex, and the Colosseum. It also appears during the story events "The Gathering," "Guardian of the Order," and "Conspiracy to the Throne," as well as the Final Fantasy II event "The Dreadnought" in reference to the Final Fantasy II Helldiver.
The Helldiver from Final Fantasy Type-0 also appears as an enemy and boss during the "The Clash on Big Bridge" and "Big Bridge - Exploration" events.
