Hell Rider VR2 is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII. It appears on the wastelands near Fort Condor and Junon and in the final round of the Battle Square before the player obtains the Tiny Bronco. When fought in the Battle Square, its stats are enhanced with double the normal HP and its Attack and Magic Attack are increased by 25%.

Hell Rider VR2 can use Electromag to invert the party's rows, which can be irritating, but is not particularly dangerous. Overall, the Hell Rider is not a threat, and the party can easily travel to Junon without even encountering it.

Despite its name, there is no "Hell Rider VR1" in the game. An enemy with a similar name, Devil Ride appears, but the two have no connection to each other. However, Hell's Rider appears in Final Fantasy VI, and resembles Hell Rider VR2.

Etymology[]

In many mythological, folklore and religious traditions, hell is a place of torment and punishment in an afterlife.

The enemy's Japanese name is "Hell Harley VR2". "Harley" is a name used to refer to a motorcycle manufactured by Harley-Davidson.

"VR2" means "version 2", signifying it is the second Hell Harley, the first being the enemy bearing the simiar name, Hell's Harley (ヘルズハーレー, Heruzu Hārē?) from Final Fantasy VI.
