Mischievous creatures found throughout that slums. They first came to Midgar in search of food, and have proliferated since. They attack by charging into foes with the spines on their back, and by casting spells.
Enemy Intel
Hedgehog Pie is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII Remake, encountered in the Sector 5 Slums with Cloud and Aerith in Chapter 8, "Budding Bodyguard", and with Cloud, Barret and Tifa in Chapter 14, "In Search of Hope". The pies can also be fought in Corneo Colosseum. Their "boss" is the unique variant Hedgehog Pie King.
Stats[]
Battle[]
Hedgehog pies are small common enemies in the Sector 5 Slums area. They're not particularly dangerous and always appear in groups. They attack mostly by leaping at the player, which will briefly interrupt them unless they're blocking. They can also use Fire and Fira.
During the "Kids on Patrol" odd job, the Hedgehog Pie King summons several hedgehog pies for backup, and provides them all with buffs, namely Barrier, Manaward, and Regen. This makes them far more durable and actually pose a threat to the player.
Much like most biological creatures, hedgehog pies are weak to Ice.
Strategy[]
Hedgehog pies are frail enemies and easy to dispatch. Elemental Materia paired with Ice Materia a good combination for physical attackers' weapons. Ice materia paired with Magnify Materia can be a good setup for magic-users. The pies' Bounce attacks should be avoided or guarded against to prevent stunning. Cloud can easily kill multiple pies with Triple Slash.
Hard Mode[]
On the hard difficulty, the hedgehog pies are more aggressive and slightly more durable. The Ice + Elemental materia combo is still effective on Cloud, especially when used with Triple Slash.
When fighting the hedgehog pies during "Kids on Patrol", the Subversion Materia can be useful to cast Breach to remove their buffs cast by the hedgehog pie king, and defeat them quicker. Aerith can use Arcane Ward with Blizzaga paired with HP Absorption Materia or MP Absorption Materia for sustainability.
