Heavenly Strike in Final Fantasy X.

Heavenly Strike (天からの一撃, Ten Kara no Ichigeki? or ヘヴンリーストライク, Hevunrī Sutoraiku?) is one of Shiva's abilities in the Final Fantasy series. Although its animation involves ice, it deals Ice-elemental damage only on few occasions.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Final Fantasy VII Remake[edit | edit source]

Shiva uses an ice ability from FFVII Remake.jpg

Heavenly Strike is an ability used by Shiva for 2 ATB segments. She conjures a block of ice and smashes it down onto an opponent, greatly increasing stagger. The move is powerful and good for staggering, but slow to start and thus may miss. It is most effective against stopped or sleeping opponents.

Damages an enemy and delays its movement.

Description

Heavenly Strike is a command used by Shiva. A non-elemental physical attack, it also has an added effect of inflicting Threaten status on the enemy, and not Delay like the in-game description states. It is a Rank 4 ability, meaning it has a longer recovery time than a normal Attack.

Heavenly Strike can also be used by Belgemine's Shiva during the two optional occasions she can be fought, where it inflicts Threaten in the former and a weak Delay in the latter. When fighting Shiva Inside Sin, it inflicts strong Delay. Dark Shiva uses her own version of Heavenly Strike, which is a Rank 2 ability and inflicts Instant Death, Berserk, and Confuse.

Final Fantasy X-2[edit | edit source]

Heavenly Strike is an enemy ability that halves the target's HP and MP, and inflicts Stop. It is used by Shiva.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Heaven is a common religious, cosmological, or transcendent place where heavenly beings such as gods, angels, jinn, saints, or venerated ancestors are said to originate, be enthroned, or to live. According to the beliefs of some religions, heavenly beings can descend to earth or incarnate, and earthly beings can ascend to Heaven in the afterlife, or in exceptional cases enter Heaven alive.
