Haste is a magic spell in Final Fantasy VII Remake. It is the first level spell provided by Time Materia, and the only one with a supportive effect as opposed to an offensive one. The spell applies the Haste status to a target, which improves the rate at which their ATB gauge charges by 30%. Haste also dispels the Slow and Stop debuffs, but doing so does not replace the debuffs with Haste, and the spell must be cast again.
Use[edit | edit source]
Haste costs 4 MP to cast, and can be used by characters with time materia at level 1, and will apply the Haste buff for 100 seconds. This buff increase the target's ATB charge rate by 30%. This is useful on any character, and the increase to their ATB charge rate does not vary too greatly for characters with a higher or lower Speed attribute, making it broadly useful on all.
Haste costs one ATB charge to cast. This is recouped after five ATB uses with Haste equipped, after which Haste will have provided more ATB than was required to cast it. Five ATB charges is normally achievable well within the duration of the Haste buff, making it a worthwhile cast.
Haste can be used effectively by pairing Magnify Materia with time materia. This allows Haste to buff the entire party's ATB charge rate. Though magnify will reduce the length of the buff duration, it does not reduce the effect of the buff. As magnify materia is a great pair with time materia for its other two spells, this can be a very efficient use of the spell. Haste also combines with Refocus Materia once used in a multiplicative fashion, greatly increasing the ATB charge rate of a character.
