The Harena Region is a part of the world where Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer take place. Mostly a desert as a result of an conflict between Lester DeRosso and Sage Yulyana long ago, Harena's landmarks are Ancheim, Al-Khampis, the Temple of Wind, Miasma Woods, and the Harena Ruins.

D's Journal[edit | edit source]

Harena Region

This hot desert region, which includes Ancheim and the Temple of Wind, lies in the waters southeast of Caldisla in Luxendarc's southern hemisphere.

The Seas, Sands, and Winds of Harena

The burning sun beats down on the expansive sands in the day, but temperatures plunge at night. Only the constant winds from the south and the waters of the Flo-Cheim Inner Sea have allowed civilization to survive in this harsh environment. In recent years, those winds have fueled Ancheim's industrialization.

According to Lord DeRosso, the Harena region was once temperate and lush with vegetation, but a great battle he waged against Sage Yulyana 1,800 years ago commenced the region's decline into a desert waste, which in turn led to the fall of the Harena Dynasty. The name Harena is all that remains.

Story[edit | edit source]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

In the past, the Harena region is ruled by the Harena dynasty until the a fight between Lester DeRosso and Sage Yulyana turned most of land into a desert. Eventually, reign over the Harena Region passed to the Khamer family of the northern city of Ancheim while the southern city of Al-Khampis is built to broaden the minds of its residents.

During the events of Bravely Default, Eloch Quentis Khamer VIII allied himself with the Anti-Crystalist movement and sought to modernize his city while purging it of all traces of the Crystal Orthodoxy with aid from the Khamer & Profiteur Merchantry. But Agnès Oblige, whom he sent to investigate the Chasm to place in a negative light among the people after the wind powering their city died out, restores the wind while winning the peoples' favor. Once the Khamer & Profiteur Merchantry's shady activities are revealed, the Prime Minister of Ancheim momentarily takes the deposed Khamer's place in overseeing Ancheim's affairs.

During the events of Bravely Second: End Layer, after Agnès is kidnapped by Denys Geneolgia, Al-Khampis professor Norzen Horoskoff attempted to sacrifice Ancheim in an attempt to destroy Denys's Skyhold before he was stopped by Yew Geneolgia's group.

Spoilers end here.
