Hansaku Ushikai is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is a pirate who has recently joined the Confederacy.
History[]
After a troubled childhood, Hansaku fell in with the worst sort of people, an unsavory gang of bandits who forced Hansaku into a life of violent lawlessness. Hansaku narrowly escaped death at the hands of his former shipmates, finding refuge with the Confederacy.[1]
Soon after Hansaku joined the Confederacy, his former shipmates were arrested by the Confederacy for refusing to pay the Ruby Tithe. They claimed that they were merchants with the East Aldenard Trading Company, but since the Confederacy was forbidden to enter Kugane, they had no way of confirming their story. Hansaku avoided making contact with his former shipmates and meets the Warrior of Light who claimed to know the owner of the East Aldenard Trading Company branch in Kugane. Hansaku begs the Warrior of Light to meet with his superior, Tsukikage Urabe, to help resolve the situation.[2]
The Warrior of Light manages to disprove the allegations and the prisoners are sent to the bottom of the sea. The Warrior of Light also brings a possibility of forming a business relationship with the East Aldenard Trading Company, who want to buy the confiscated goods and other products unique to the Ruby Sea. Trying to prove his worth to the Confederacy, Hansaku runs without thinking when he is asked to collect shark fins, but in the end he had to be saved by the Warrior of Light.[3]
To prepare for the transaction to take place without any problems, Tsukikage orders Hansaku to clear the northern area of wild animals while Suzume rests in the guard room to recover from her pearl diving injuries while he checks to make sure the goods arrive safely at the transaction site. Suzume discovers that the captured crew were the ones responsible for the death of her parents and that Hansaku was part of it. Suzume meets up with Hansaku in Hells' Lid to take revenge by killing him.[4]
Tsukikage manages to arrive in time to stop Suzume, and tells her that if she wants to commit treason against the Confederacy he won't stop her but tells her to wait until the transaction with Kikimo is completed. Under Tsukikage's orders, Hansaku and Suzume set out to secure the area and dispatch any remaining beasts. Suzume was attacked by the beasts while her back was turned and Hansaku threw himself at them to save her. Through his selfless act, she has become aware of her own mistakes, and apologizes to him for the harm she attempted to inflict upon him.[5]
