Cinna's hammer.
Description
The Hammer is Cinna's weapon in Final Fantasy IX. It deals random damage with Attack like Quina's forks. As Cinna is a guest member only briefly playable in the intro sequence, the Hammer does not teach any abilities. Cinna has his hammer on him on the field in many scenes; when Tantalus Theater Troupe are working on their hideout in Lindblum, Cinna does not let Marcus borrow his hammer.
Later on, the player can obtain the Hammer to their inventory from the Stellazzio quest. No one can equip it, but it can be used to synthesize the ultimate heavy armor. If still in the inventory when the player defeats the final boss, the player gets a brief extra scene to the ending.
Earning the Hammer from the Stellazzio quest in the latest versions of Final Fantasy IX yields the What's Your Sign? achievement/trophy.
Obtain[]
Cinna holds the Hammer when he is a guest member, however, it is not possible to take it off him, and so when Cinna leaves the party, the Hammer goes with him.
The Hammer is the reward for giving all 13 Stellazzio coins to Queen Stella in Treno.
Mechanics[]
The Hammer's damage dealt with a normal Attack is determined as follows:
- Base = 12 - Enemy's Defense
- Bonus = (A random value 1 ... Strength) + (A random value 0 ... [(Level + Strength) / 8])
- Damage = Base * Bonus
The damage is then modified by Cinna's row position.
Use[]
Cinna uses the Hammer as a guest on board the Alexandrian-bound M.S. Prima Vista where he participates in the fight against Masked Man. During the play, Cinna helps Zidane and Blank fight Steiner to stall him. After this, Cinna is not in the party again.
When the player gets the Hammer from the Stellazzio quest, they can either synthesize it in the Legendary Synthesist Shop found in the final dungeon for the Tin Armor, or keep it in the inventory for an extra ending scene. The armor piece is good, but unnecessary for completing the game as the player is likely nearly finished almost everything the game has to offer by then. The extra scene in the ending does not offer any storyline revelations; it is merely a scene in the play I Want to Be Your Canary .
It could also be used in synthesis to make a Pumice Piece alongside 25,000 gil and a Pumice, but the player is better off not doing this.
