Haermaga Bleibornsyn is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is a member of Adventurers' Guild and the one in charge of the seasonal event Moonfire Faire.
History[]
Early life[]
Years ago, while Haermaga and other adventurers were taking over the Bombard menace, local children came to watch. He met one of these children named Chadwick, who dreamed of becoming an adventurer. Haermaga discovered that Chadwick had an illness and spent his time with the boy forming bonds of friendship. Haermaga had promised the boy that he would take him to Limsa Lominsa for the Moonfire Faire but the young boy passed away due to his illness. As a form of mourning, Haermaga mobilized the guild to bring back the Moonfire Faire, claiming that it was to encourage children to aspire to become adventurers, but in reality, he only wanted to cheer up the local children.[2]
Moonfire Faire 2014[]
At the request of the Adventurers' Guild, the Warrior of Light met with the chief chaperone Haermaga. He was a bit vague about the reason for these festivities, but was clear on the matter of reward. In exchange for participation in three events, Haermaga promised to reward the Warrior with a special costume. Haermaga directed the Warrior of Light to meet with the chaperones Mayaru Moyaru, Ethelia, and J'nangho, each responsible for one of the events.[3]
After the Warrior of Light completed the three events, Haermaga delivered the rewards. A chaperone expressed her concern about Haermaga's distracted behavior and asked that the Warrior of Light meet with the merchant Yamimi. She carried a memento and a message from Haermaga's late friend, Chadwick. She said that in his last moments, Chadwick had asked her to find a twisted hachimaki from the Far East and gift it to Haermaga. After learning the reasons for Haermaga's behavior, the Warrior of Light gave her the hachimaki, Haermaga and cheered and acknowledged that Chadwick had become a true adventurer.[2]
Moonfire Faire 2015[]
To attract more people to the Adventurers' Guild, it was decided to hold the event in Costa del Sol. Once Master Gegeruju gave them permission to use his beaches, the Adventurers' Guild began preparations. Needing help, Haermaga asked the Warrior of Light to help the chaperones in Costa del Sol.[4]
Moonfire Faire 2016[]
Haermaga said that the Bombard King had risen again and that he and some members of the Adventurers' Guild intended to end his reign before it began. He asked support by exterminating some of the minions who accompanied his king to the Costa del Sol, but then asked the Warrior to meet him at the waterfall in a quarter bell to explain about a secret mission.[5]
On the location a trio of masked calling themselves the "Go Go Posing Rangers" revealed themselves. In reality, they were Haermaga masked as the "Red Ranger", Hildelana as the "Black Ranger", and Beaudefoin as the "Yellow Ranger". After some bold introductions, they explained that while their powers when combined in Firefall Battle Formation were strong enough to take down the Bombard King, it was something they could not consistently accomplish. To improve their success rate, they asked the Warrior of Light to help with their training. Returning to Haermaga, he was happy to hear that Warrior of Light was willing to help the Go Go Posing Rangers with their training. He asked that they begin working with the Red Ranger immediately and directed the Warrior of Light to J'nangho.[5]
J'nangho said that the "Red Ranger" had been busy honing his ability to extinguish fires on smoking mannequins. Believing that a little friendly competition was just what he needed to speed up his training, she told to follow him in an elbst and try to put out the mannequin flames before he did. J'nangho instructed the Warrior of Light to talk to the guild creator, Wunthyll, to borrow an elbst. After the training, Haermaga asked that the Warrior continue to help the Go Go Posing Rangers and asked them to speak with J'nangho to receive the latest training schedules for each of the Rangers.[6]
Haermaga was concerned that the Go Go Posing Rangers, although they had improved throughout their training, still lacked teamwork. They ran out of time, as the king and his minions began their advance sooner than expected. After requesting that the Warrior of Light help the Rangers on the battlefield, Haermaga asked them to meet them at Hidden Falls.[7]
The Warrior of Light met up with the Go Go Posing Rangers, who were one member short. While waiting for the Red Ranger, the other two explained that they still needed to perfect the Firefall Battle Formation because their missing comrade often overthought the steps, causing him to get out of sync. The Yellow and Black Rangers believed they may have found a way to combat this problem through meditation and requested that the Warrior of Light hold the Bombards who had appeared on the margins long enough for them to accompany him. While the Yellow and Black Rangers revealed their true identities as Beaudefoin and Hildelana, the Red Ranger joined in, still refusing to remove his mask, which was Haermaga. The Go Go Posing Rangers got into the Firefall Battle Formation and took down the Bombard King. Having learned a valuable lesson about teamwork and the meaning of friendship, Haermaga believed this would be the beginning of a long and successful evil-fighting career for him and his two comrades.[7]
Moonfire Faire 2017[]
At the request of Gegeruju himself, the Moonfire Faire would be held on the Isle of Endless Summer to promote it as a new paradise resort. Haermaga said that things were going well, however, it was having many more visitors than anticipated and he asked the Warrior of Light to help with the event.[8]
Haermaga told about the rumor of a treasure hidden by Gegeruju that he was trying to find out the truth behind. He learned of several places that Gegeruju visited and asked the Warrior of Light to investigate one of them. The Warrior of Light discovered Gegeruju's bezel. Whatever Gegeruju was spying on, Haermaga planned to catch him in the act and confront him directly.
The Warrior of Light found Gegeruju in the act of spying the visitors and learned that he and Jiriri have spread rumors of the treasure to attract more visitors to the island. Haermaga determined that he and the others would continue to make the Moonfire Faire the most festive occasion they could, but would insist that Gegeruju solve any problems that arose as a result of the treasure rumors.[9]
Moonfire Faire 2018[]
Haermaga revealed they had built an obstacle course as the centerpiece of this year's festivities. The organizers believed the sight of members of the Adventurers' Guild risking their lives to complete an increasingly difficult series of challenges would inspire the younger generation to one day become adventurers.[10]
When the Warrior of Light was about to register to compete, a shy young man named R'fhul Tia and his little sister R'majha arrived. The older brother declared his intention to take on the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course. However, only members of the Adventurers' Guild could sign up. Despite not having the necessary credentials, R'fhul Tia convinced Haermaga to break the rules, on the condition that the Warrior of Light went first to demonstrate the correct method for completing the course.[10]
Moonfire Faire 2019[]
Haermaga welcomed the festivities and offered an overview of all the activities available to fair-goers. The centerpiece was a forged version of the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course, which was complemented by two smaller-scale events, the Iron Culinarian Challenge and the Angling Extravaganza. He followed his explanation with a request of a more specific nature, asking if the Warrior of Light would be willing to provide some veteran guidance to R'fhul Tia, the newly recruited adventurer, whom Haermaga suspected was in trouble. R'fhul Tia challenged the Warrior of Light to a battle to see who could accumulate four vouchers in the shortest time. At Haermaga's request, the Warrior of Light accepted the challenge, hoping to give the boy a lesson or two along the way.[11]
Moonfire Faire 2020[]
Reports from the Fishermen's Guild told of a giant man-eating shark terrorizing the shores of Costa del Sol, and the Moonfire Faire hosts desperately sought help to ward off this threat before anyone was hurt. Haermaga reported that Gegeruju had begun assembling a special team of researchers to combat this maritime menace and asked the Warrior of Light to stand guard with him while he awaited their arrival. Soon the shark emerged from the waters, causing the revelers to run for their lives. As the Warrior of Light prepared for a fight, Thracie asked to stand aside. Her goal was to use the kobolds' expertise in explosives to launch the shark back to the depths from whence it came. They built an artificial Bombard, the very threat that spurred the start of the Moonfire Faire. Although Haermaga was skeptical of their methods, it was the best plan available. The Bombarders intended to control the artificial Bombard by means of a traditional Lalafellin dance known as the flame dance. The Bombard exploded, sending the shark running back into the ocean.[12]
Haermaga was surprised at the outcome. Thracie pondered how such a huge, wild creature ended up on the shores of the Costa del Sol, and just as she was about to put the matter aside, she was taken aback by the appearance of a miniature monster at her heels. Captain Foerzagyl of the Endeavour said that he was looking for the tiny shark, which had been his faithful companion since he was pulled out of the ocean during a fishing trip. Disregarding any connection between the two creatures, Foerzagyl rushed back to his ship and decided to settle for a job well done and a summer well rescued.[12]
Moonfire Faire 2021[]
According to Mayaru Moyaru, the feature of this year's festivities would be a delicious dessert ordered by Master Gegeruju, and his colleagues would welcome the help of the Warrior of Light to prepare it. Haermaga said that it was missing ice, which was the main ingredient. Later, the Warrior of Light and P'obyano reported that the confectioner, Nekeke, had returned with the ice, but had drawn the Bombard menace into the festivities. Haermaga was heartened when a contingent of veteran fighters appeared out of nowhere to help him dispatch the Bombard threat. With Bombard defeated, Nekeke got to work on dessert.[13]
Moonfire Faire 2022[]
Haermaga revealed that the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course had returned that year due to popular demand. Haermaga asked the Warrior of Light to act as a guiding star for R'fhul Tia, who let his initial success go to his head.[14]
R'fhul Tia introduced his two apprentices to the Warrior of Light. Although he seemed fairly confident that he would succeed through the Eorzean Nimble Warrior course, the two apprentices and R'majha were worried about him. R'fhul Tia's attempt ended in failure. R'fhul Tia's apprentices did not mince words to express their disappointment with him and soon after they said goodbye and R'fhul Tia could not understand what he did wrong.[14]
After speaking with Beaudefoin, R'fhul Tia finally understood that he was so focused on trying to impress his apprentices that he did not fully commit to overcoming the challenge. After seeing the Warrior of Light complete the course, R'fhul Tia followed suit and succeeded. Seeing their mentor do his best, the pair of apprentices made peace with R'fhul Tia. Haermaga was happy with the young man's conclusion, and invited the Warrior of Light to enjoy the rest of the festival.[15]
Heavensturn 2023[]
Haermaga reunited with Hildelana and Beaudefoin during that year's Heavensturn after their ordeal with misinterpreting fortunes and considers drawing lots himself.
Moonfire Faire 2023[]
Haermaga asked for the Warrior of Light's help in solving an urgent problem with the Sunshine Savior. A young man named Lyonell has been recruited for the role, Haermaga asked to lift his downcast spirits with some adventurer encouragement. As they met with Lyonell, he revealed that the source of his distress was an aversion to having his face exposed to prying eyes. Haermaga had a solution and they asked to meet again at a certain location.
Soon the Warrior of Light met Haermaga and Lyonell, now wearing a garish costume whose design was commissioned by Haermaga himself. The costume had restored Lyonell's confidence, and he was ready to protect the visitors to the Moonfire Faire. Lyonell recognized that he still had much to learn, and asked the Warrior of Light to help him until he could support himself as a beach protector.[16]
After reporting back to Haermaga, he was pleased with Lyonell's progress and explained that his costume was inspired by the legendary Phoenix. Like the legendary bird, he hoped that Lyonell could be reborn and regain his lost confidence. This hope was soon tested when a shark emerged from the depths of the ocean and attacked the visitors. Lyonell without his mask was forced to confront it in an impressive display of bravery.
Although Lyonell appeared to have suffered no more than superficial injuries, Haermaga instructed him to be examined nonetheless. Haermaga asked the Warrior of Light to join him in waiting for Lyonell to return, keeping an eye out for any other demons. Lyonell returned with a triumphant smile. For help to Lyonell, Haermaga made the Warrior of Light an honorary Sunshine Savior, rewarding with the same costume he gave Lyonell.[17]
Moonfire Faire 2024[]
Haermaga explained that year they had added a Far Eastern flair with fans. They are called "uchiwa" and ward off evil spirits. To guarantee their authenticity, an expert Namazu was hired to make a hundred boxes of them. To manage an event of this magnitude, the Guild needed more volunteers to help reinforce the event's security. In the middle of his conversation, a scream was heard. Upon locating the source of the scream, a terrified tourist told him that a strange creature had challenged him to a dance-off and fled after defeating him. While Warrior of Light was investigating, Haermaga informed Beaudefoin and P'obyano about the scream. The pair rushed to the scene to help the Warrior of Light.[18]
The creatures were cactuar pets of Memeja, a guest of Gegeruju. After all the cactuars had been captured and calmed down. The party returned to inform Haermaga of the news. While theorizing about what could have caused the pets to go berserk, Gegeruju comments that they went crazy after he shared a bottle of wine with the cactuars without Memeja's knowledge. Haermaga was grateful that Warrior of Light had resolved the crisis before any of the fair's participants had been hurt.[19]
