Raises [Vitality]
Description
Guard Source is a stat-upgrading item item in Final Fantasy VII that permanently increases the Vitality of one character by 1. Vitality, when added to the bonus from the character's equipped armor, determines the Defense stat, which reduces physical damage taken.

Guard Source can be easily farmed around the Mideel area from the Spiral with the help of the Conformer.
Guard Source is a boss reward from Dark Nation after battling Rufus on the roof of the Shinra Bldg. during "The Nightmare Beginning Anew". It can also be found in Kalm (last house in a row, upstairs in a cabinet), Junon (last house in first area, 3rd floor), Forgotten Capital (first house when going right from the intersection), Rocket Town (after getting Highwind, in room behind item shop), Winding Tunnel when trying to stop the cannon during "Mako Cannon Rampage" (after fight with Turks in the tunnel, head up), and the Northern Cave (spiral path second chest x1; choose right when prompted on second screen x1; at area that resembles a maze jump off ledge, choose right when prompted, jump into cave while facing left x1).
