Strange egg with magical properties. Doubles the amount of EXP earned in battle.

Description

Growth Egg, also known as Exp. Egg,[1][2] is a relic in Final Fantasy VI. It doubles all EXP gained by the wearer.

Betting a Growth Egg in the Coliseum pits the player against a Muud Suud for a reward of a Tintinnabulum.

Obtained[]

Growth Egg can be found in Darill's Tomb through a secret passage, morphed from Vasegiatta, Marchosias, and Galypdes, or won by betting a Tintinnabulum in the Dragon's Neck Coliseum. In the GBA and discontinued Mobile and Steam versions, it can rarely be dropped from the Gargantu boss in the Dragons' Den.

Mechanics[]

The wearer gains double EXP from battles. Though two can be equipped on a character at once, the effects do not stack.

Use[]

As a passive relic, in most cases Growth Egg will simply take up a relic slot, and as such should be given to another relic a lot of the time. Growth Egg should only be used in level grinding contexts. It can also be used when bringing along party members whose levels are behind those of others.

The player should avoid using Growth Egg and level grinding much until they have access to all magicite available, as later magicite provide bigger stat boosts when leveling up. Once these magicite are available, the player should ensure that when a character levels up, they have a magicite equipped that boosts their desired stat at the highest possible amount (for instance, Edgar or Locke would want to boost their Strength by +2, while Relm or Strago would want to boost their Magic stat by +2).
