Final Fantasy Wiki

Grenoldt Freethane is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is a famous blacksmith the First. His counterpart in the Source is Gerolt Blackthorn.

History[]

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers[]

Grenoldt had been spending some time in the Tempest, unable to find inspiration to make the Ondo's ritual lamp. Without it, the Ondo would not agree to lower the barrier to Amaurot. The Warrior of Light was able to inspire the smith and he completed the lamp.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker[]

After some time away from the Crystarium, Grenoldt returned. He met Chora-Zoi, a budding artisan, and took her on as his apprentice. The two worked, with the financial support of Mowen and other affluent people of Norvrandt, on creating a new line of high quality crafting tools.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Similar to his counterpart on the Source, Grenoldt is a muscular man with bronze skin. He has long-flowing, brown hair as well as prominent sideburns and muttonchops. He wears a pair of workman's trousers and a smith's gloves.

Personality[]

Unlike his counterpart Gerolt, Grenoldt is very sociable and polite. He sees the potential in Chora-Zoi to become a legendary smith and helps her reach her potential. Grenoldt is in love with Mowen and is unafraid to express his affection to her. Grenoldt has low alcohol tolerance and will often express his true feeling uninhibited before quickly blacking out if he drinks.
