Grenade Combatant is an enemy with the appearance of an ordinary Shinra infantryman in Final Fantasy VII. It has two attacks: Machine Gun and Hand Grenade. They are more powerful than previous Shinra infantrymen encountered as they throw grenades at the party member with the lowest current HP, but are still not strong enemies. Grenade Combatant can use Hand Grenade up to four times before running out.
They can also be fought during the return to Midgar at the end of the game, but at this point they are harmless.

Behind the scenes[]
The Grenade Combatant shares its Japanese name with the Grenadiers enemy that appeared in the 1996 Aeris demo of Final Fantasy VII. The yellow Grenadiers was the only enemy from the demo to not be directly translated to the final release, instead being adapted into the blue Grenade Combatant. The yellow color scheme would return when the Grenadiers/Grenade Combatant was adapted into the Grenadier in the Final Fantasy VII remake project.
