Explosive damage against one opponent
Description
Grenade is an offensive battle item in Final Fantasy VII that deals Shoot-elemental physical damage to one target. It is considered Long Range with an attack power of 160. Due to it being physical, it can be covered.

Mechanics[]
Using the Grenade does not take the user's stats into account in determining damage. The final damage is calculated as :

The damage is Shoot-elemental and ranged (does the same damage from the player's back row and can hit enemies in the back row).

The Grenade can be bought after reaching the first town of the game, Sector 7. At this point of the game, it is one of the strongest offensive actions the player can take outside of attacking elemental weaknesses. Due to it being long range, the player can place the party in the back row to reduce physical damage and attack using Grenades. This might be a good option for Aeris, who is in the back row by default. The player may opt to do this if they are low on MP or if they simply wish to conserve MP for other spells. Once the player is able to reach the world map and start obtaining other abilities, such as Matra Magic, Grenade's power starts to fall off.
