The Greater Boros, also known as the Gt.Boros, is an enemy in Final Fantasy III. In the NES version, it is a relatively easy enemy to defeat, but in the 3D versions, it is a dangerous enemy as it can inflict Petrify with its physical attacks, as well as having access to the Thundara spell. It is recommended to bring Gold Needles as well as the spell Stona to prevent the petrification, or have a character equipped with a Ribbon or Aegis Shield. They are otherwise easily defeated with a single casting of Thundaga.

Etymology[]

The Ouroboros is Greek for "tail-devourer". It is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon swallowing its own tail and forming a circle. It most commonly symbolizes cyclicality, unity, or infinity.
