Single slot. Graviga is a magic materia in Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- that casts an orb with an area-of-effect that lowers nearby enemies' current HP by nearly 50%. It is one of the strongest materia in the game, allowing Zack to deal up to guaranteed 99,999 HP damage with little investment when combined with a Brutal or Genji Glove equipped.

Obtained[]

Graviga can be obtained through the Materia Fusion mechanic by combining a mastered Gravity with a Libra materia. However, it is abundant in Missions, where it is easier to obtain.

Graviga is a reward for "M1-3-5: Robots in the City", and found in chests in "M6-6-2: The Don's Second Secret", "M7-3-6: P's Precognition Lv. 6", "M7-6-6: The Determined Recruiter", "M8-5-6: Treasure Info 6", "M9-1-1: Underground Caves" , and "M9-2-1: The Third Power". Later, it can be purchased in Bone Village Commerce.

Use[]

Ability[]

Against enemies not immune, Graviga can deal guaranteed 99,999 damage to enemies whose HP is over double 99,999. This is because it will half their HP, and deal damage up to the max damage limit, assume Zack has an accessory (Brutal or Genji Glove) that boosts his damage limit to 99,999.

Graviga can never kill an enemy outright as it will always halve their current HP. This means it should be paired with a materia such as Costly Punch, Quake, or Energy to finish them off. Graviga represents a safe and effective way to reduce enemies' HP before killing them.

Graviga can be very effective when combined with an equipped Dualcast materia, greatly improving its damage output. It can also be used very effectively with an accessory that reduces Zack's MP cost to zero, such as Soul of Thamasa or Genji Helm.

Materia Fusion[]

Graviga is level 3 when unmastered, and level 4 when mastered, in its fusion table. Darkness and Quake are both levels above it, but do not have the same effect as Graviga; while Quake is very useful to have separately, Darkness is less powerful. Gravity is a level below it that can be used to reach Graviga.

Graviga's usefulness and its place on the fusion table puts it in a difficult position as it is extremely difficult to fuse a mastered Graviga materia with another materia and still keep it as a Graviga spell. Therefore, when maxing stats on Graviga, one must be very careful.

The best way to max Graviga's stats is to leave a Graviga materia unmastered (meaning not taking it into battle), and fusing it with Libra. By fusing the Libra materia to a point where it has high stats (+100 of ATK, MAG, VIT, or SPR, or +999% HP or MP), and fusing it and Graviga with a number of powerful items of the chosen stat, the player can max Graviga and keep its effect. The PSP version also gives Zack the ability to gain 99 Phoenix Downs from Minerva in "M9-6-6: The Reigning Deity" to make this easier, while both versions grant mastered Digital Mind Wave materia with high stats earned from naturally completing the "M9: Great Cavern of Wonders" series that serve as a good starting point. SP can be easily obtained from Three Stars in "M9-5-3: Unusually Strong Monsters" to support fusion.

Graviga is unaffected by Zack's stats, meaning the player can give it any stats they like. It is a natural choice for the ATK stat to allow Zack to more easily finish off an enemy who was weakened by Graviga.
