Being a man who, consumed by magicks, discarded the worn husk of his body and took refuge in the body of a cockatrice, thereby forming the fell creature known as the gorgimera. Living in dim, dry underground caverns, corridors, and the like. Their distinctive, scaly visage is horrifying to look upon, and their wings, which spread to reveal mesmerizing eye-patterns, draw others into the twisted world of their wholly corrupted minds.

Etymology

Gorgimera combines the words gorgon and chimera.

In Greek mythology, the Gorgon was a terrifying female creature who had hair of living, venomous snakes, and a horrifying visage that turned those who beheld it to stone, the most famous being Medusa.

The chimera is a fire-breathing monster, one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna. It is commonly represented with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail in Greek mythology. In modern usage, the term chimera is often taken to mean any sort of hybrid between two or more species.
