Though we're called goldsmiths, we actually work with various kinds of precious metals and gemstones, all of which are abundant in Thanalan. Smelting, casting, cutting, polishing--we use all these techniques to craft beautiful baubles that delight the eyes. Mind you, these things we make aren't simply for show--a great many possess magical properties. And of course, we craft scepters and staves that thaumaturges use to channel their magicks. When you think about all the variety goldsmithing has to offer, it's really quite exciting!
The Goldsmith is a Disciple of the Hand in Final Fantasy XIV.
Overview[]
Goldsmiths work precious metals and stones into a multitude of accessories that appeal to the Eorzean aesthetic. Their wide-ranging finery, painstakingly fashioned from delicate metals and gemstones, can be see adorning the ears, fingers, and necks of the distinguished everywhere.
Ul'dahn goldsmiths always have a ready supply of raw materials, owing to the vast mineral resources of Thanalan. Due to the high value of these resources, however, most artisans also make it their business to stay abreast of market trends.Lodestone
Goldsmiths specialize in making jewelry, including most kinds of accessories, the scepters and staves used by Thaumaturges, and some kinds of fishing lures.
They can also refine precious metals into ingots usable by various Disciples of the Hand, as well as refine jewels from raw stone. Being stonecutters at their core, Goldsmiths can also do masonry work, such as stone walls for housing.
Gameplay[]
Equipment[]
Goldsmiths use hammers as their primary tool and grinding wheels as their secondary. Their armor is primarily made up of "Crafting" gear that they share with other disciples of the hand. Crafting gear provides bonuses to the craftsmanship, control, and CP attributes. Craftsmanship and control respectively improve their progress and quality gains when crafting. CP is the resource they use in place of MP for their abilities.
