Golden Skullcap is the second strongest hat, providing 2 Defense, 47 Magic Defense, halving Earth-elemental damage, boosting the power of the user's Water-elemental attacks, and teaching the support abilities Locomotion and Power Up. It can be equipped by everyone except Steiner and Freya, and can be synthesized at the Black Mage Village (endgame) by using 15,000 gil, Gold Helm, and Golden Hairpin.

In the original version, Golden Skullcap is the second strongest mystic armor hat, requiring the Mystic Armor 11 license to equip and providing 58 Magick Resist, +10 Magick Power, and +3 Speed. It can be bought for 16,000 gil at Balfonheim Port and Barheim Passage (The Lightworks, after obtaining the Treaty-Blade), found as a treasure at Cerobi Steppe (Old Elanise Road) and Great Crystal (Sirhru Phullam Pratii'vaa), dropped by Dead Bones at Pharos - Third Ascent and Subterra (1% chance), and stolen from Dead Bones at Nabreus Deadlands (3% chance).
In the Zodiac versions, Golden Skullcap now provides 58 Magick Resist, +107 MP, +10 Magick Power, +3 Speed, and requires the Mystic Armor 12 license for 90 LP. It can be found as a treasure at Lhusu Mines (Site 11) and Cerobi Steppe (The Northsward), drops from Dead Bones at Pharos - Third Ascent or Subterra (1% chance), and stolen from Dead Bones at Nabreus Deadlands and Exodus in Trial Mode Stage 68 and Crystal Knight in Stage 82 (3% chance). It can be equipped by the White Mage, Red Battlemage, Black Mage, and Bushi.

Golden Skullcap is the most powerful hat, providing 8 Defense, 6 Magick, and 18 Magick Resistance. It can be obtained from the Bazaar from the "Gilt Accessories B" category.
