The Golden Chocobo is a Commando, much like its peers the Chocobo and Red Chocobo. It learns Armor Breaker and Stagger: Drain and combined with its respectable strength, HP, no elemental weaknesses, and with a maximum of 5 ATB bars the Golden Chocobo can be a great Commando. Its Feral Link, Kweh, and the distinctive sequence of input commands it has, can easily boost its sync rate to the maximum of 500%, making it good for capturing monsters. However, in comparison to the Chocobo and the Red Chocobo, it doesn't get the full 6 ATB slots and if the player wants all 5 ATB slots, they must give up COM Bonus Boost. In terms of abilities, Golden Chocobo does lack in the amount of abilities learned compared to its peers.

The Golden Chocobo is a recruitable monster in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Its crystal is found in A Dying World, in a treasure cube in an alcove in the upper half of the Dead Sands.

Another way to recruit it is to obtain it as a rare drop from Valfodr Lv.15 in the "Perpetual Battlefield" downloadable content scenario. It is one of the best chocobos for racing, only being outmatched by the Silver Chocobo.

A gold chocobo has been the best type of chocobo since Final Fantasy VII.

The Golden Chocobo is a Commando, much like its peers the Chocobo and Red Chocobo. It learns Armor Breaker—which boosts its Strength by 30% against opponents that resist or halve physical damage—and Stagger: Drain—which helps it maintain its HP—and combined with its respectable strength, HP, no elemental weaknesses, and with a maximum of five ATB bars, the Golden Chocobo can be a great Commando. Its Feral Link, Kweh, and the distinctive sequence of input commands it has, can easily boost its sync rate to the maximum of 500%, making it good for capturing monsters.

In comparison to the Chocobo and the Red Chocobo, it doesn't get the full 6 ATB slots, and if the player wants all five ATB slots, they must give up COM Bonus Boost. The Golden Chocobo learns fewer abilities than its peers, but is more cost efficient to develop. Its Stagger: Drain overrides Armor Breaker, an ability considered superior in most circumstances. Etymology

The name "chocobo" derives from a Japanese brand of chocolate malt ball by Morinaga, ChocoBall (チョコボール, Chokobōru?). The mascot for this product is Kyoro-chan (キョロちゃん?), a bird who says "kweh".

食う / くう / kuu is a rough way to say "eat", whose volitional casual form is 食え / くえ / kue ("let's scoff 'em down!"), leading to Kweh!
