Godie is a young hunter that Nanaki encountered in Final Fantasy VII: On the Way to a Smile.

Story[]

Nanaki first encountered Godie, then about ten years old, in a forest near Nibelheim. Godie had wounded a Nibi bear and was cowering below it. Nanaki dragged the boy away and snarled at the bear. Godie's father arrived and shot the animal, then trained his aim on Nanaki. Godie defended Nanaki, claiming that the gods must have sent Nanaki as his guardian. Godie asked to bring him home. He immediately named Nanaki "Red" after his fur; Nanaki disliked the decision to instantly name him, and it further reminded him of his specimen name, Red XIII.

Godie's father recognized Nanaki, as Shinra had once put a bounty on him. Nanaki fled, but clandestinely returned to spy on them. Godie's father intended to turn Nanaki into an exhibit, while Godie had wished to become his friend. Nanaki subsequently found the dead bear's offspring and raised them. He named the two Baz and Lin. Some time later, the bears attacked Godie. Nanaki intervened, saving Godie's life once again.

That night, the bears entered the hunters' settlement and were killed. Blinded with anger, Nanaki attacked the humans. Godie screamed that he had wanted to befriend him. Before Nanaki could claim any lives, Vincent Valentine shot him and chased away the hunting group.
