Godhand is Rikku's Celestial Weapon in Final Fantasy X. It is obtained in Mushroom Rock Road, and deals more damage the closer Rikku is to her max HP. When fully upgraded, it contains the abilities Break Damage Limit, Triple Overdrive, Double AP, and Gillionaire. Like the other Celestial Weapons, Godhand will ignore the target's Defense when calculating damage.
Godhand is a recurring powerful knuckle weapon in the series, typically for Monk characters.
Obtained[]
Godhand is obtained by entering "GODHAND" as a password on the airship and going to the new location on Mushroom Rock Road. The player will appear on a narrow path. To the north is a chest containing Godhand that can only be opened when the player has acquired the Celestial Mirror.
The Mercury/Venus Crest[note 1] is found in a treasure chest in a shifting sand pit in the final area of Bikanel Desert.
To obtain the Mercury/Venus Sigil, the player must complete the cactuar sidequest on Bikanel Island, which is available after gaining the airship. In the final area of the island is a stone engraved with a cactuar. Examining it will prompt a rhyming poem and ten cactuars will appear in the desert. The player must find them, then play a game of "Red Light, Green Light" with the cactuars.

Once fully upgraded, Godhand should be Rikku's weapon of choice. Its key auto-ability, Gillionaire, is unique, as it doubles the amount of gil earned from battles. With the Final Fantasy X system of needing to customize weapons and armor with the best auto-abilities, gil is incredibly important even late in the game, so having Rikku in the party when farming for gil is a great help.
Rikku's weapon does not provide any counterattacking auto-abilities, nor ones that improve her spellcasting. Nonetheless, Rikku's Mix ability is crucial in many battles against superbosses, due to its ability to buff and heal the party in one turn to a greater extent than other abilities can. This means that Rikku is greatly beneficial to the party regardless.
When maxing Rikku's stats, players should max her Strength for damage, since the weapon does not boost her magic damage output. It is important also to max her Defense, Magic Defense, and Evasion for survivability.
The only time Rikku will not use Godhand once fully maxed is when she still needs to obtain AP through a weapon with Triple AP. Even in this scenario, Gillionaire would be important to include, meaning she will likely equip it anyway, and the Double AP that the weapon provides may prove sufficient.
Etymology[]
The founder of Kyokushin Karate, Masutatsu Oyama, displayed incredible feats of strength and martial arts skill, earning him the nickname of "the Godhand". The "hand of God" is also a means of religious symbolism: The "Hand of God" motif is a hand with no body attached, appearing in Jewish and Christian art, especially of the Late Antique and Early Medieval periods when depiction of God as a human figure was considered unacceptable. The hand indicates intervention in or approval of affairs on Earth by God. It is an artistic metaphor not intended to indicate an actual hand is physically present and functions as symbol of either God's presence or the voice of God, or signifying God's acceptance of a sacrifice.
