Non-elemental damage on any one opponent

Description

Goblin Punch is an attack spell that deals physical damage in Final Fantasy VII. It is an enemy skill used by the Goblin. It can be learned on the Enemy Skill Materia for the player to use. Learning it is more for completion's sake, as it is generally weaker than the equipper's normal attack.

Obtained[]

Goblin.

If learning each enemy skill the earliest they are available, Goblin Punch is learned toward the latter half through mastering the Materia, as it can only be learned once the player has control of the Highwind. The Goblins in the forests of Goblin Island and Round Island use it.

Use[]

Goblin Punch deals damage equal to 75% of the Attack command, but x8 of the damage if the target is of equal level, and requires no MP to use. The player can use Sense to find what level enemies are on.

Goblin Punch can be of use at the Gold Saucer Battle Square if one has their weapon broken, as it will still do normal damage. If the player fights the Emerald Weapon on LV99, they can do 9999 per hit with Goblin Punch because of the the same level bonus, however, the player can tackle the superboss at a lower level without much trouble even without Knights of Round.

Etymology[]

A goblin is a small, mischievous creature found in many European folk tales and legends. The word "goblin" comes from the Norman French word Gobelinus, the name of a ghost that haunted the town of Évreux in the 12th century.
