The Goblin Captain (ゴブリンキャップ, Goburinkyappu?, lit. Goblin Cap), also known as the Dark Imp, is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy IV.

The Goblin Captain, also known as the Dark Imp, appears as an enemy encountered in the Tower of Babil and the Underworld. It appears in large groups, but only attacks with a weak physical attack and is otherwise no threat to the party.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]
The Goblin Captain returns as an enemy encountered in the Baron, Mist, and Kaipo regions, the Sealed Cave, the Tower of Babil, the Lair of the Father, and various Challenge Dungeons.
Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-[]
The Goblin Captain returns as an enemy encountered in the Tower of Babil and its surrounding region.
Final Fantasy Dimensions[]
The Goblin Captain appears as an enemy encountered in the Mathel region, Mt. Burtgang, and Ashmonte. It fights using regular physical attacks and Goblin Punch, but is ultimately no threat to the party. It can drop the rare Rune Bangle and has the Mythril Bangle to steal.

Etymology[]
A goblin is a small, mischievous creature found in many European folk tales and legends. The word "goblin" comes from the Norman French word Gobelinus, the name of a ghost that haunted the town of Évreux in the 12th century.
Captain and chief officer are overlapping terms, formal or informal, for the commander of a military unit, the commander of a ship, airplane, spacecraft, or other vessel, or the commander of a port, fire department or police department, election precinct, etc. Captain is a military rank in armies, navies, coast guards, etc., typically at the level of an officer commanding a company of infantry, a ship, or a battery of artillery, or similar distinct unit.
