Glazheim Wall (グラズヘイム・ウォール, Gurazuheimu Wōru?) is a magical dome-shaped barrier in Final Fantasy XVI constructed of seemingly dark-aspected aether at the behest of Odin. Barnabas Tharmr erects it to halt Clive Rosfield's advance toward northern Ash.
The wall cannot be destroyed by seemingly any means, as it repels all corporeal and magical assaults, and will consume any who try pass though its bounds.[1] It spans from Eistla in central Ash in the south to Frigg's Calm in the north, blocking any approach to the Waloeder capital of Stonhyrr.
The wall dissipates when Clive defeats Barnabas at the summit of Reverie.
Ultima and Bahamut both utilized similar barriers to dissipate magic attacks, which is best demonstrated in the fight at Origin.
Behind the scenes[]
Glazheim has some similarities to the Wall from Final Fantasy XV; though usually an example of light magic, Ardyn Izunia's version of it is tainted with daemonic energy.
Etymology[]
Heim is German for "home".
