The Heart of Babel!? No kidding; the Heart of Babel? ...I don't what that is, actually, but it sure sounds powerful!

The Giant of Babel is a mostly unseen character in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and a member of Hess' Eight Sages. Initially a technological innovation developed by Eclipsa under the name of the Heart of Babel, it was created to serve as a new power source for airships. How or why it was treated as a "sage" despite not being a living being, per se, is unknown. It was sealed inside the Wind Crystal during the Paladian Civil War and eventually grows massive enough to serve as the main engine for the airship Invincible.
History[]
Babel was an Aldore experiment developed by Eclipsa to create a source of energy to power airships. She could not make the Babel provide the necessary energy, as it would shut down quickly, and thus took Heliarc's living heart, as he was rendered immortal and had great magical powers. Heliarc's living heart gave the Babel machine an energy source, but when he learned of what Eclipsa had done (being transplanted with his own Magitek Heart), he stormed Eclipsa's lab to confront her. Eclipsa revealed his heart was inside a mechanical box, which served to house the Heart of Babel, but its contents could not be opened unless destroyed.
Heliarc defeated Eclipsa to reclaim his heart in the box, but could not open it. Pertira, his longtime friend, suggested they go to her hometown. They took the Babel with them, but due to both the Magitek Heart and the Heart of Babel being in Heliarc's possession, the Aldore government blamed the people of the Hess race for losing their valuable science projects, and discrimination and persecution against the Hess increased.
Yuraisha visited Heliarc and revealed the current state of affairs, seeking to create an organization that would protect Hess people like him. She wanted Heliarc to join her, as he risked being a target of the military should he remain in Pertira's town. He agreed, and Pertira joined them wanting to stay by Heliarc's side.
The Heart of Babel ended under Hess ownership, but would soon be stolen by Aldore forces along with blueprints for the airship the Invincible that was developed by Amnelis. Cid would eventually helm a team of engineers into creating the airship for Aldore. During a test flight he came under attack from Bahamut the Dragon King, who on orders of Yuraisha blasted the airship to reclaim the Heart of Babel since it was of Sol's belonging, leaving Cid confused about Bahamut's cryptic wording.
Learning of the news Emperor Vlad would send Dioxus, the Darklord and leader of the Sworn Eight of Paladia, along with a Raegen a then young, aspiring knight, in a mission to retrieve the Heart before Hess forces, having pinpointed the crash site location. Upon venturing on the forest the two faced with Sol who intended to reclaim his heart. Raegen tried to reason with Sol that Hess did not have the power to stand against Aldore. Sol refuted him and the two sides engaged in battle with Sol utilizing the power of his own heart to transform. Dioxus prevailed, but Sol revealed a trump card in the shape of the Giant of Babel, another war machine created by Amnelis by basing its design on the Weapon monster from ancient civilizations.
Using the heart to power the machine, Sol engaged Dioxus who, cornered, was forced to use the power of his Miasma to enable himself and Raegen to survive the Giant's powerful blast and damage it. Sol tries to teleport with the Giant as he could not allow it to be destroyed. Raegen tried to convince Sol to desist and let them have the Heart and tell the emperor that the Giant had fallen, making it unnecessary to escalate further violence. Sol rejected the proposal, revealing that Yuraisha had decided on war. Raegen was shaken that his adoptive mother would wage war behind his back. Dioxus was not surprised thinking that Yuraisha's love forced her hand. Realizing the timing of events, Dioxu correctly deduced that Vlad had set them on a trap to have himself and the forces of Hess obliterate one another.
Dioxus declared his land to be independent and himself no longer in servitude of the emperor, a message that Sol would pass to Yuraisha. As Sol escaped, Raegen confronted Dioxus who wanted the war to play itself out as a setting where power had the ultimate say benefited him. The two engaged in battle. Pushed into a corner, Dioxus catalyzed his suit of armor to turn the tide. They were surrounded by the remaining Sworn Eight, who sought to destroy him and Raegen. The two held their ground, but Raegen was forced to escape, while Dioxus obliterated the other seven aggressors by himself.
With his plan a failure, Vlad decided to rebuild the Sworn Eight with a different set of warriors, including Raegen, whose earnest nature made him easy to manipulate, and use them to deal with the empire's enemies.
Raegen managed to defeat Dioxus in an ambush set up by Vlad and became the new leader of the Sworn Eight of Paladia. As years passed and the war progressed, Raegen as the Veritas of the Dark confronted the Giant who was now deemed a Sage of Hess despite being a mere construct. Raegen, now stronger and more mature, was granted the Crimson Saber by Ignacio, which he reforged, explaining it was a Hess heirloom. Raegen defeated the Giant in a duel, which became a major victory, cementing Raegen's reputation.
When Raegen enacted a plan to seal the Sages in Crystal to force negotiations between the two factions, Babel was faced by an unknown member of the Sworn Eight and sealed into the Wind Crystal.
When Veritas of the Heavens destroyed the Wind Crystal 700 years later, he unsealed the Heart of Babil to provide power to the Invincible as they needed a powerful airship for their quest for revenge. Dr. Lazarov stole the airship for his own purposes and attempted to use it as a weapon of genocide for his experiments. A fellow sage, Bahamut, was awakened after the Fire Crystal was destroyed. Sensing Babel's heart beating in the airship, the Dragon King challenged the vehicle and blasted the airship with his Megaflare. Lazarov was forced to hide for repairs and Bahamut departed.
Ever since its awakening from its slumber, the Heart has remained as the energy source of the Invincible.
Gameplay[]
The Giant of Babel appears as the Trance Shift of Sol's "Red-Eyed Sage Sol" Neo Vision Rarity Variant. It is a Magic Attacker and a Debuffer, specializing in Ice and Dark damage, with a bigger focus on Dark. The Giant of Babel is capable of inflicting massive imperils on the Ice and Dark resistances of enemies, as well as set an enemy only field to further debuff said resistances. It can inflict major stat debuffs, and power his own Dark-elemental damage for strong damage bursts. As a drawback, the Giant of Babel has limited equipment options.

Etymology[]
Tower of Babel is from a story from the Book of Genesis in the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament/Torah, as well as other various ancient documents. The story tells of how early humanity began construction on a great tower that would extend to the heavens. However, God determined "nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them" so confused their language and scattered them over the face of all earth, leaving the tower and its city abandoned.
