Gi Nattak (theme)

"Gi Nattak" (ギ・ナタタク, Gi Natataku?, lit. Gi Natatak) is a boss theme in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, composed by Shotaro Shima and Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by Shima.

It contains motifs from "Cosmo Canyon" in the second phase.

"Gi Nattak" is the eponymous boss theme that plays during the boss battle against Gi Nattak in Chapter 10, "Watcher of the Vale" in Cosmo Canyon.

It is track 10 of disc 5 on the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Original Soundtrack.

Behind the scenes[]

The 30th Anniversary of the Japan Professional Music Recording Awards, organized by the Studio Association, took place today. I received the Excellence Award for the track "Gi Nattak" from the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth soundtrack. While I unfortunately missed out on the Grand Prize, it was still a rare honor to receive an award for a game soundtrack.
This work has been winning awards at game awards around the world, and I feel somewhat rewarded for being part of that wave. I’ve also received many positive comments from players around the globe about the music of FF7R, and I’m just so happy that people are enjoying it. A big thank you to everyone who has supported this project, including Mr. Kawamori from Square Enix, composer Mr. Shima, and all the other involved parties! Truly, thank you all so much!!

The recording and mixing engineer is Kunihiro Imazeki and the mastering engineer is Yuka Koizumi (Orange).

The track "Gi Nattak" won the Excellence Award (優秀賞, Yūshūshō?) for the Best Master Sound Category: Classical, Jazz, Fusion (Best Master Sound部門　クラシック、ジャズ、フュージョン, Best Master Sound Bumon Kurashikku, Jazu, Fyūjon?) at the JAPRS 30th Japan Professional Music Recording Awards (第30回日本プロ音楽録音賞, Dai 30-kai Nihon Puro Ongaku Rokuon-shō?) on December 6, 2024.^[2]^[3] The award was received by the mixing engineer Imazeki.^[4]^[5]^[6]
