Battle[]

Where do they keep coming from?

Noctis
Gargoyle in train tunnel from FFXV

Noctis battles a horde of daemons alone while riding on the top of the train as it approaches Tenebrae. The player needs to run to the front of the train and then simply hold out until it emerges from the tunnel and Leviathan will manifest from the surrounding waterfalls to destroy the daemons.

Gargoyles appear alongside snagas. Only one gargoyle appears at a time. The train is continually moving in a tunnel and there are no point-warp spots. Gargoyle is weak to polearms, shields, lightning and light. It attacks using close-ranged physical attacks.

Strategy[]

The player can warp-strike the snagas to concentrate on the bigger foe. As Noctis is alone, the player can wantonly deploy some lightning elemancy without fear of party members getting caught in a friendly fire. The Radiant Lance can be a good weapon to use for this sequence as it is a light-elemental spear. However, the gargoyle is not a particularly tough foe to defeat. In the close quarters combat zone, the player can keep the defense button pressed to avoid the daemons' attacks and watch for parry prompts.

Etymology[]

Gargoyles were initially ordinary stone statues built on rooftops to let rainwater above flow down to the ground through certain paths. The statues were usually carved as monsters and strange creatures, which later spawned the belief that gargoyles are the guardians of the buildings they live in.
