Gargantua is an enemy in Final Fantasy XV fought during the Zegnautus Keep and Reunion and Recovery main quests.

Gargantua is similar to the other iron giant-type enemies, in that it uses strong physical attacks, and wields a colossal sword it can swipe in a wide arc and smash into the ground in front of it. When first met in Zegnautus Keep, Noctis only has the Ring of the Lucii for a weapon, and thus its weapon and elemental weaknesses don't really play a role.

Etymology[]
Gargantuan, in modern times, means gigantic. Gargantuan is based on the the fictional king Garguantua, who was portrayed as having gigantic physical and intellectual appetites. The satire Gargantua and Pantagruel was written by François Rabelais, considered a great writer for his works of fantasy, satire, the grotesque, and bawdy jokes and songs.
