Second part of Dio's diary: The Gold Saucer years
Description
Gambler is a miscellaneous item in Final Fantasy VII. It is nothing more than a novelty item for the player to collect. It appears to be the second volume of Dio's biography, the owner of Gold Saucer, the first part being "Combat Diary".

If the player has bought Omnislash and W-Summon, had Cloud learn Omnislash, and they have acquired Cloud's Ultima Weapon, they can enter a special match at the Gold Saucer Battle Square only Cloud can participate in. The receptionist comments Cloud is probably strong enough to take on the top fighters, and asks if he would like to participate in a private battle. The special match is harder than the normal battles, and the prize is the Final Attack Materia that can be won once. The player must eliminate all eight enemies. If the player continues to participate in and win multiple special battles, they will win trophy items, such as Dio's "Combat Diary" and "Autograph". Winning the special battles ten times earns a Ribbon.
Behind the scenes[]
In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the "ultimate reward" for doing every quest and mastering the minigames at Gold Saucer is the Gambler Materia, though it having the same English name as an "ultimate random reward" for doing "everything" in Final Fantasy VII is likely a coincidence.
