Story[]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

Act 1, Ch. 6: The Wastelands of Domina[]

Summoned into the conflict by Materia, Mog recruits this prankster monarch in the Domina Wastelands. When a local chocobo informs Mog of an old man nearby, Bartz speculates it could be Galuf, a suspicion reinforced when a manikin of him attacks. Galuf is found lying, apparently unconscious, in the Domina Wastelands. When Bartz and the others rush to help, it turns out that he was simply asleep. When Bartz greets him, Galuf asks "Who are you? And... who am I?" as a joke before greeting Bartz happily. After the situation is explained, Galuf takes it in stride thanks to his past experience of traveling between different planets.

Later, Galuf gathers with Shadow, Sazh, Laguna, Steiner, and Yang to have a relaxing conversation away from the more youthful party members. They discuss their family left behind, and Galuf notes Shadow has been mumbling about a daughter in his sleep. When Sazh turns the inquiries on Galuf, he feigns amnesia, to their exasperation.

Lost Chapter: The Power of Valor[]

Cater joins the ranks of the warriors of light as they search for a torsion that had opened up in the area. Galuf is with her when she finds and successfully closes the torsion, and commends her on her strength. This invites a comment from Vincent, who pairs his compliments to her talent with a critique of her hubris, upsetting her with his lecturing.

As Rem and King try to temper Vincent's comment to help Cater understand him, Galuf notes that Yuffie and Cater are in many ways alike. Yuffie is upset by the implication, which in turn offends Cater, and the two yell at each other while Galuf notes that his point had just been proven. Yuffie demands to know if she had ever been as annoying as Cater is. When she is met with an awkward silence, Galuf and the others walk away, leaving Cater and Yuffie to themselves.

Act 2, Ch. 8: Whither the Wind Returns[]

After Bartz had given his memories to his Dark Manikin, the team searches for it to restore him. They come across their own Dark Manikins and recover their lost memories. Galuf becomes aware of his future in his home world, and reassures his granddaughter that they hadn't have time to worry about him. After recovering Bartz's brilliance, Galuf and Bartz discuss knowing about their futures in their home worlds. Galuf remarks how Dorgann's son had grown well.
