Description
Götterdämmerung is the ultimate accessory in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It allows the wearer to enter any battle encounter with a full limit break gauge, and their limit gauge will also charge over time during battle.
Obtained[]
One Götterdämmerung can be obtained. In the Chadley Combat Simulator, the challenge "Brutal Challenge: Rulers of the Outer World" must be completed. This is the final of the Brutal Challenges, a series of battles with three party members, and is only available in hard mode and after fully completing the Protorelics questline.
Like in Remake, Götterdämmerung is locked behind a challenge centered around summoned monsters.
Use[]
Götterdämmerung is the strongest accessory in the game, allowing the user to start any battle with a huge advantage. The accessory building the limit gauge throughout battle also means limit breaks can be used frequently throughout a lengthy battle. In solo battles, this can provide them with a great advantage; however, synergy abilities or other accessories will be needed to raise the limit levels to take full advantage of frequent uses of limit breaks.
One major downside to Götterdämmerung is that it is obtained late in the game. If the player does the challenge the earliest it is available, it can be helpful both against some of the Legendary Bouts in the Chadley Combat Simulator (which are solo battles), or against some of the harder bosses in the main story. It can be of use in any new game plus or Hard Mode playthroughs.
Combining Götterdämmerung and Limit Siphon Materia on one party member, with
Enhanced Expeditionary Medal, which boosts that party member's limit level to 3, on Aerith Gainsborough, once she has her Rising Fury limit break, can be devastating. With this, Aerith can open the battle by using Limit Siphon on the party member with Götterdämmerung equipped, enabling her to instantly cast Rising Fury, which in turn fills the limit gauges of the other two party members. Using
First Strike Materia allows her to open the battle this way, but because Götterdämmerung fills the limit gauge, she will be able to do this often.
Etymology[]
tale of Ragnarök. The name fits with the way the accessory is obtained in both Remake and Rebirth: Ragnarök culminates into a great battle in which numerous great Norse mythological figures will perish, and in the Remake project Götterdämmerung is a reward for a gauntlet where the player fells all the summoned monsters.
Götterdämmerung (lit. "Twilight of the Gods") is old German for the Old Norse word ragnarǫk. Additionally, Götterdämmerung was the name of the final opera of Der Ring des Nibelungen (the Ring of the Nibelung), a modern (at the time) retelling of the
